I imagine this story was invented by Harry & Meghan Markle's PR people, or their delightful Sussex Squaddies, to detract from the negative publicity the former royals are getting from the book about them recently released.

Their lifestyle is funded by the state, they therefore work for the state, they are therefore legitimately subject to intrusion of privacy and judgment by their 'subjects'. It is just the way it is. Royalty have always been subject to gossip. They want to be private, become private individuals.

Not saying you’re wrong, but it genuinely baffles me when people think they know some random famous people person, especially one who has a top notch PR team. People are often fooled by spouses/children etc etc, and yet some people still think Public Figure X is “clearly” this or “clearly” that in terms of their real personality/private life. Baffling.

hmmmm - I remember being in Florida in the early 1980s and buying a copy of the scurrilous National Enquirer which had lurid details about an affair between Prince Charles and Camilla which I conveyed to my partner and friends's around the pool which was met with incredulity and hilarity at the gossip. Later turned out to be true as we all now know.
