Dp and I were both home today and at lunchtime 2 men came to the door who were CID and were looking for a young man and woman who rented this flat before us.Have just seen on the news that the man is one of the most dangerous adn wanted paedophiles in teh uk who had been released from police custody in error in the north and made his way back south. He was found about 2 miles from us and re arrested.I feel quite disturbed that he lived here and can't stop looking around now.I hope we get out of here soon

Blimey, what a shock. WEre you planning to leave anyway? Did the neighbours know?

noddyholder · 17/01/2008 23:17

We rented this temporarily when we sold our house in September. We chose it because it is near schools and parks .He was convicted of serious sexual assault of a 14 yr old boy and ds is 13.The police thought he may have come back here! This flat is slap bang in the middle of three schools and 2 parks.

How horrible!!

ChristmasShinySnowflakes · 17/01/2008 23:25

I heard this on the news earlier.

Poor you

SheikYerbouti · 17/01/2008 23:27

Poor you Noddy

I can't imagine how you must feel living there

How soon are you able to leave?

noddyholder · 17/01/2008 23:31

As soon as we find somewhere to buy.His partner was still living here when he was arrested and thy showed us her picture but we didn't recognise it but as her last and his last address they expected he may come back here to find her.Makes me sick to thing he could have come here and ds could have been here on his own, really scary.

Unpleasant and upsetting for you but it's not very likely the man will come back there. You are not his family or dear friends: why would he come back when he doesn't know you? Also, if he has been rearessted then he is back in custody and can't be any threat to you.

noddyholder · 17/01/2008 23:38

I know he hjas been re arrested but he ahs been on the run apparently and his last address was here and she still lived here when he was convicted. So he came here from quite a distance and was arrested in town.I am not scared he will come here just that he could ahev before he was caught.Does make mw think about who can knock on your door though

paedophiles usually abuse children they know. The chance of him doing anything to your DS was just as likely as any other sick person doing anything. Still very disturbing, though.

madamez · 17/01/2008 23:46

NH: Ok I didn't know about the man's Xp having been living there, so yes there was perhaps a higher chance of him reappearing - but still not that likely that he would have immediatley attacked a stranger on the doorstep, more likely to have gone, oh, is (his P) home? and run off on being told she doesn;t live there any more. Appreciate it's a bit unsettling, but please don't let it haunt you too much.

noddyholder · 17/01/2008 23:53

I am not that worried!!!I was just shocked when I heard that he had targeted a 14 yr old boy who was camping and assaulted him. They both lived here before he was arrested so has a horrible feel for me now although I have always hated it

I have hated this place from day one but as its temporary I accepted it.It does have an awful feel but that may be the wonky central heating!

ladytophamhatt · 18/01/2008 08:49

so have the caught him again?
you said he was arrested 2 miles from you noddy...I hope they have

noddyholder · 18/01/2008 08:53

yes they came here yesterday at lunchtime and they caught him in teh street in town at 6pm.Thank god he's not still on the loose In the top 7 most dangerous/wanted paedophiles in the uk.

ladytophamhatt · 18/01/2008 09:10

Obiviously thick a shit too if he was caught again so quickly.

Thank god!

noddyholder · 18/01/2008 09:14

they had a really huge clear picture of him and there were police evrywhere

just seen that on the front page of the argus. how scarey

Cappuccino · 18/01/2008 09:16

all kinds of stuff happens in houses before you live in them

why does it matter? the only difference is that you know about one of them

someone committed suicide in the living room of our old house

didn't make us suicidal, made no difference to us

noddyholder · 18/01/2008 09:24

it makes no difference in the big picture but I very much go on feelings and vibes.condescending tone to that post cappuccino we are not all the same. The thought of awful people living here is thought provoking thats all

OP posts:
ruty · 18/01/2008 09:29

i agree about the feel of a house. And something like that would definitely upset me. You could think about a house 'cleansing' [doesn't have to be religiously influenced] if you were that way inclined. Otherwise just stick it out till you find something else. Sympathies though.

Cappuccino · 18/01/2008 09:31

but there was a woman on here who used to socialise with a bloke being questioned about the Madeleine McCann disappearance

she was freaked out and everyone was saying she had no reason to be

you haven't even met the bloke

he has moved out, he is not a danger to you

ruty · 18/01/2008 09:33

but weren't people a bit sceptical about her because she was saying this bloke she met was 'a bit odd' when he had done nothing wrong, and someone suggested she go to the police with her 'evidence'? A bit different.

noddyholder · 18/01/2008 10:21

I wasn't thinking he was a danger to me.I was merely saying that it was a horrible feeling to know he lived here and that he may have come back here as it was his last known address before conviction and he was imprisoned leaving his girlfriend here and she is still in town.I haven't met him obviously what does that mean?

OP posts:
ruty · 18/01/2008 10:25

sorry noddy i was talking about the other thread cappucino was referring to, not you.
