UK gov sending gay man to his death TONIGHT!

UKgovMurder · 29/06/2022 20:24

Deportation due to happen at 10:30pm tonugy from Birmingham on a Hi Fly Airline flight.

Why is there zero media coverage of this? His name is plastered all over the Nigerian news though 😩

The man was outed and has been issued death threats in Nigeria, will likely be arrested on arrival. Arrested and sent to prison for being gay! And likely will be murdered. He was beaten badly before he managed to leave.

This is so sad, what can we do about it?

Nothing, he was removed last week.

He’s here illegally, do we take everyone in? there’ll always be an excuse and we’ve enough problems, the nhs is failing, prices are going up, people are having to cut back on food and heating and all the rest of it, we are a small country and need to look after our own, a lot of people here are living in shit housing and children are going without so no, sorry and all that but we’re full.

Agree

ChagSameachDoreen · 05/07/2022 13:54

Where is Stonewall when you need it? Oh yeah - busy infiltrating our establishments with homophobic ideology and pouring money into the kink-fest that's Pride.

it is grim but he is here illegally

Wow.

So he hasn't made an asylum claim? So who's making the claims he's in danger if not him?

Namenic · 05/07/2022 14:00

@Fatarseflanagan09 - there was a thread on MN about an Oxford demographer who said we should tax childless people due to falling birth rate. There is currently a labour shortage I believe - is it so bad to increase immigration for people seeking asylum instead?

Where is your evidence that his asylum claim is false?

If you were gay in a country where you could be killed for it, wouldn't you try to leave?

Although judging by your previous comments on other threads you probably agree with the Nigerian position on homosexuality.

Few things stick out. His story is he slept with a man in his marital bed found out by his wife. Still doesn't warrant the death penalty even though that's a dick move. I'd find him welcome here over prosecution there.

Seems this doesn't happen all too often and is the first case in years:

“It’s the first time in many years that we see an LGBTQI+ person we support being sent back to a dangerous situation, and are devastated that this couldn’t be stopped.”

So that's good. Based on that I'd hazard that the case was perhaps not genuine given they usually grant asylum?

I don't think any further comment can be made without reading that judgement to see the reasons they did not believe he was in danger in black and white.

Very well put.

I had a lovely chat the other day with a Nigerian man working as a carer in a dementia nursing home (of the many staff I saw there only one was white British) filling a vacancy that no one locally wants to fill, and providing for the basic care needs of this countries most vulnerable people.

So, I disagree with there being no room. We, especially the NHS, desperately need working age immigrants to fill the huge numbers of vacancies currently causing problems across a number of industries in the UK.

The gay Nigerian man being discussed here was 48, so 20 years off of retirement age, I'm sure if he'd been allowed he could have worked and contributed to the UK.

I’ve been on MN long enough to see that racists run rife with no consequence from @MNHQ.

But some of the comments on this thread and other more recent ones genuinely shock me.

Anything that dares infringe the rights of women - uproar and protest.

Anything that infringes the rights of anyone brown or black - meh, it is what is.

Exactly .

I wonder how many of these bleeding hearts would put their money where their mouth is and pay more tax

No - I think the spokesperson for Rainbow Migration said it was the first of theirs in many years, not the first in general. This article in the Guardian says 81% of gay Nigerian claims fail.

A case doesn't have to be false to fail. Nigeria is a huge place and the difficulty in establishing a claim is that someone might genuinely be at risk in one area, but must show that they cannot relocate safely elsewhere within the country and / or cannot seek state protection.

Bollindger · 05/07/2022 14:43

I do feel so bag that his sexuality is going to cause him to be in prison.
What I do wonder though is just how many countries he had to travel through to get here? People have been brainwashed into thinking the UK is the promised land and so many die on the sea crossing and then find out when they get to the UK that we are trying to return them to where they came.

TroysMammy · 05/07/2022 14:55

There are 54 countries in Africa. In 33 it is illegal to be homosexual.

Yes, we do take everyone in with a valid claim to asylum. We have a long and proud tradition of doing so. On the face of it, the certainty of being killed on your return to your country of origin constitutes very good grounds for a claim to asylum.

Blatantly we are not full. Look at all the problems being encountered in the hospitality, farming and other industries with recruiting anything like enough staff. The reason the NHS has thousand of unfilled vacancies is because of Brexit and the consequent exodus of foreign employees.

I assume you would have said "Sorry and all that but we're full" if Anne Frank and her family had turned up here?

Stop being such a goddamn tory and tax the rich GODDAMN IT!! And if you are against that....I'm surely not alone when I say yes I would happily pay a little more tax to stop an innocent man being beaten to death for being gay?? wouldn't you? Or would you rather your money goes towards paying the salary of the servant who runs the Queen's bath?

Why are people so obsessed with our country being full. It's not full. it is being run to the ground by our government whilst their rich buddies get even richer off the backs of us. Think of the billions of pounds wasted on covid apps and PPE that they are now literally chucking in the bin. Just to make their pals some extra money. Why can't we all just accept our fellow humans (in need) onto our island out of kindness and compassion and stop worrying that they are going to take our resources. There is plenty enough to help those in desperate need to escape their country for their life.

I'm not particularly articulate but some of the comments on here genuinely make me fear for the future of the human race. And the future of our dreadful country. SMH.

According to reports he arrived at Heathrow, so it sounds like he came straight here. Lots of asylum seekers do - for example if they already have an unexpired visit visa.

Newjobformoremoney · 05/07/2022 18:15

@hattie43 yes, I would happily pay more tax. And I am taxed at 50% already FYI.
How disgusting that you think that do you think that people like my sister deserve to DIE because of her choice of who she loves.
For god sake, these are people, who yes, happen to not be white. Where is your compassion? I do hope that when someone dislikes something about you people show more compassion or a slither of morality that you've shown here.
I am not quite sure how you can face yourself in the mirror

Wow. Nice. @kewgirl Thank god not everyone thinks like you, savage.
