It makes the approach methods taught to staff at the special school I work at very tame. There is a great emphasis on maintaining the dignity of the child.

We were told only physically intervene when it is considered a life threating situation. We don't care about property, but we do care about people getting hurt. Ie. Very strong child with mental age of two with no concept of safety is doing something REALLY dangerous.

Approach methods maintain the dignity of the child. Why can't they do something similar in the US?

I fail to see how fear teaches a child to behave.
