Sorry I haven't the energy to do a link but thought this would interest others. Personally I am gobsmacked but maybe I've just lost my sense of humour!

For goodness' sake! How does that teach them about saving the day - implying they only have minutes/hours to live???

Caligula · 19/11/2004 16:07

How incredibly stoopid.

Makes you wonder about the level of commonsense around.

Did he even think about what responses he might elicit?

Sounds most unlike a teacher - like he's not used to weighing up what reactions will be when he uses a certain approach. Strange.

Hulababy · 19/11/2004 16:08

What a stupid thing to do.

Titania · 19/11/2004 16:24

stupid stupid stupid How on earth did they think the children would react???? bloody idiots.

suedonim · 19/11/2004 16:40

Pillock.

it sounds like a simulation game which got out of hand. I quite often do this sort of thing in class ( simulations etc) but obviously it's always based on the premise that it's not actually true! I owuld expect Year 9s not to be so susceptible to such extreme fantasy though. I suppose he is a convincing teacher.....

Wasn't there a similar story a while back where it had a similar effect? Children were huddled under desks phoning their parents on their mobiles to say their last goodbyes etc.
