It's a sad sad state, and the saddest thing is, that it doesn't surprise me one bit, nohting in that article surprises me!

My post natal care was dire . Had emergency c-section and had to wait for morphine to kick in before I could get up and change DS's nappy on a couple of occassions. Thanks for the 'care' midwives .

Thankfully there was one midwife who thought it was unacceptable to expect post CS women to being doing ANYTHING for a few days. Pity there aren't more like her shouting about it and the funds to improve the system.

They just need decent staffing levels. Until the NHS listens to the staff and understands that nurse/patient ratios are crucial care will continue to deteriorate. 80% of our new grad nurses and midwives over the last few years are unable to find job. My hospital isn't hiring but they are making redundancies.

I am sure midwives would like to spend more time with their patients but when you have 7 others in labour what do you do? Ignore them so that you can spend time helping the first one who just delivered breast feed? Don't think so.

Hmm... things to put in Hospital bag

Decent food
Bathroom cleaner

This report doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, but at least it doesn't mention the hospital where I'm about to give birth.

And I'd like to seem them try to put me in stirrups...

It doesn't suprise me at all, most hospitals don't have enough staff post natally. Unfortunatley it's almost standard for people to pack there own disinfectant wipes when staying in hosptial.

Stirrups??????????????
At my hospital visit earlier this month all the midwife talked about was being up and about and bouncing on the ball!
They have a 70% natural birth rate at this hospital. (Nottinghamshire) But ...... I still want to be out of there as fast as poss - from previous experience, horrible bathroom and as for the food ...

I had two lovely deliveries (I can truthfully say that I enjoyed both births) at the Princess Royal hospital in Haywards Heath and great care on the maternity ward afterwards. Fantastic midwives.

The kicker is that the unit has now been closed.

I knew I shouldn't have read this when I clicked on it. Due to give birth in 5 weeks and am now panicking again. At least my hospital isn't mentioned in it.
