The findings are being read out at the moment (I am listening to LBC).

I have been interested in this case for a number of years for various reasons.

IMO Cressida Dick should resign immediately.

The report says among other things that she personally obstructed justice and withheld vital documents from the enquiry panel.

Ah I was just about to start a thread on this. I don’t see how Cressida Dick can stay. It pains me to say that because I thought she was from a new age of less corruption but to be personally named as having obstructed an enquiry that’s cost this much money and gone on for this long makes her position untenable. I too have had a long standing personal interest in the case as a relative of mine experienced a case of awful police corruption from one of the forces mentioned in the report (it destroyed them)and met with Alistair Morgan once. He and everyone else (thinking of Doreen Lawrence here too) who has had the strength to fight the Met for so many years, well I salute their strength and I feel the pain of their family. The fact that Daniels mother died before this was released is so tragic. There was also a link uncovered with one of Stephens killers. It goes right back to a corrupt network of criminals and POs seemingly linked through freemasonry. None of that is surprising for the 80s, but the fact they are still obfuscating to this very day is beyond shocking. I’m really starting to sympathise with those who call to defund the police tbh, are they fit for purpose on an institutional level? If anyone wants a deep dive into this case I’d highly recommend the untold podcast.

PicsInRed · 15/06/2021 20:27

There needs to be more central oversight over the police - far too many "issues" with these decentralized fiefdoms.

It's a disgrace that this isn't more of a scandal, when the working theory is that this poor guy was axe murdered to cover up the very corruption which then continued for 30 years in the still ongoing coverup of his gruesome murder.

How much of this corruption assisted Sarah Everard's murderer early on in, e.g. McDonalds? Total disgrace. Yes, Cressida Dick needs to go.

NigellaAwesome · 15/06/2021 20:30

I read this with a lot of interest. As a senior police officer I have been battling against the 'closing of ranks' in a different force. I don't think it is limited to the Met at all. I am absolutely certain that the issue I am facing has a significant Masonic element.

Good for Dame Nuala (who coincidentally was my law professor) for saying it as it was. Concealing or denying wrongdoing for the purposes of organisational reputational benefit is dishonest and a form of corruption. All Day Long.

My heart goes out to the Morgan family. I'm sure it will bring them very little comfort.

NigellaAwesome · 15/06/2021 20:32

What was the McDonalds aspect? I must have missed that.

DingleyDel · 15/06/2021 20:38

NigellaAwesome it’s lovely to hear that there are some officers who see this ‘closing of ranks’ as the problem it is when it comes to covering up obvious wrongdoing. It does feel sometimes as through the police will go to enormous lengths to ‘protect their own’. It’s disheartening to hear that freemasonry still has a hold over some forces. I know there was a government report only a few years ago that highlighted how it’s still got a hold over the police. I’ve been called a conspiracy theorist in the past on MN for pointing this out!

NigellaAwesome · 15/06/2021 21:40

@DingleyDel - imagine a hypothetical situation where a very senior officer, for example, an Assistant Chief Constable in charge of investigating sexual offending and human trafficking, was discovered to have been a frequent visitor to a brothel (without his wife's knowledge) and was being blackmailed. If he left his work issue phone with highly sensitive information in the brothel that would be even worse - resulting in a team of officers being deployed to recover it.

You would expect that such an incident would involve suspension from duty and investigation, as it would for any other lower ranking officer. It would be really surprising if this scenario resulted in the ACC being allowed to tender his resignation and immediately draw his ACC pension, costing the public purse in the region of £1 million over the next few years, which, had he been dismissed, would not have been paid.

Concealing or denying wrongdoing for the purposes of organisational reputational benefit is dishonest and a form of corruption.

Now, imagine if you added that the ACC may or may not be a Freemason to that mix ...

Why are Priti Patel and Sadiq Khan saying they're happy with Cressida Dick? WTAF. Especially Khan Confused
Why hasn't there ever been legislation to enforce the findings of enquiries (which never really make much difference)?
Why are complaints about police, NHS, etc not dealt with independently?
Why aren't there structures in place to prevent covering up? No punishments?
Also been on receiving end of a cover up (NHS) and have an interest in closing ranks. It sickens me how many lengths people will go, how low they will sink, to cover stuff up.

channeltwo · 16/06/2021 08:12

...and didn't Cressida Dick out an end to the Steven Lawrence investigation by removing Clive Driscoll from the case despite more evidence coming to light?
As Winston Smith said, "I understand how, but not why". Sad

DingleyDel · 16/06/2021 08:16

NigellaAwesome Shock. Channeltwo good point about the nhs. When you think of some of the cover ups they’ve been engaged in (Shrewsbury and Telford) it’s so awful. Lives lost and destroyed.

channeltwo · 16/06/2021 08:17

Why didn't the enquiry have statutory powers? This stuff runs so deep... It is evil.

KaptainKaveman · 16/06/2021 13:05

@NigellaAwesome

How much of this corruption assisted Sarah Everard's murderer early on in, e.g. McDonalds?

What was the McDonalds aspect? I must have missed that.

As I recall the suspect , Police Officer Wayne Cousins had been reported a few days prior to Sarah E's abduction for exposing himself and masturbating at a branch of McDonald's. It would appear that no immediate action was taken.

Your first post is fascinating @DingleyDel. I am very interested in the case and have followed other cases where corruption was involved.

Years ago - in the late 80s - my friend's dad, a printworker, was summarily sacked by Rupert Murdoch of News Intl when he moved his print works to Wapping. I know for a fact that news Intl paid money to the police to crush - literally - their protests. My friend and her mum accompanied her dad one day in peaceful protest and they were charged by mounted policemen who had all removed their epaulettes so they couldn't be identified. They waved wads of cash in front of the strikers (just as they did in the Miners strike). Murdoch was in bed with the press and the Tory Govt. Money changed hands. That is corruption.

Cressida Dick was the one who said there was 'no wrongdoing' when Jean-Charles de Menezez was shot dead on a busy tube train. She has a long history of protecting and shielding the guilty.

I also think Freemasonry really should become illegal.
Did anyone watch the most recent series of Line of Duty? there was a reference to the Daniel Morgan case in it, also Stephen Lawrence.

I don't want her to resign. I want her fired. Dick and every other corrupt, cover-up police officer should be charged and brought to trial.Angry

DingleyDel · 16/06/2021 13:48

@KaptainKaveman My relatives case was very fascinating. Very, very complex. It wasn’t involving murder but proved corruption right to the top of the CPS, again I wonder about the Masonic element here. I’ve kept the documents we have. I think it would make a great podcast. I don’t understand how someone like Alastair had the strength to keep fighting, because it’s a darn sight easier to try and forget and move on with your lives, which is what my family did. I really do admire these people who keep fighting against injustice.

That’s very interesting about the Wapping protests. The link between police and press is another whole world of corruption. The police role in the ‘dark arts’ was probably barely touched on in Leveson. I feel the press very much took the bulk of the blame for that one. I was always surprised more wasn’t made of police roles.

I do think in light of so many cases freemasonry should be illegal, or certainly police officers shouldn’t be allowed this conflict of interest. They say it’s very much dying out now. The sooner the better!

Completely agree with this. Don't want to see Cressida Dick paid off with an enormous amount and receive a hefty pension to boot. There is no accountability at all in public services. Priti Patel and Sadiq Khan have the power to remove her but, although they criticise the Met, they are standing by her. Why????? Just WTAF Angry

They always seem to put an enormous amount of time and energy into covering up instead of just giving a few bent coppers a quick, public, slap down which would actually improve public confidence.
NigellaAwesome · 16/06/2021 22:48

There was a documentary series on Sky called "The Murdoch Tragedy' which showed exactly how corrupt he and his news companies were, but also how completely intertwined they were with politicians, and responsible for Brexit, Trump and other shit shows.

I agree re Freemasonry. It is utterly corrupt. I have seen it in action so many times in my organisation - promotions, investigations not commenced or curtailed, differing treatment.

The problem with the recommendation that officers need to register their membership, is that as a secret organisation, they don't need to bother and no-one will know otherwise.

channeltwo · 19/06/2021 16:49

Freemasonry is incompatible with police and the judicial system.

Torvean · 11/07/2021 22:40

What would you suggest she did when she found out police officers were posing for the 2 sisters murdered in Wembley Park?

What's wrong with the police these days??
