Different freeholders across small flat conversion?

Please can someone who knows about freeholds help?! I have a flat, part of a converted house, with three flats in total. All flats are managed by the same agency. The agency keep referring to the freeholder of my flat as "person Y" who is also the MD of the management agency. This is different to the name of the freeholder on my lease "person X". Every time there is an issue, the agency when they eventually respond, say they have to refer to the freeholder (person "Y"), who takes months and months to respond. However, he does eventually respond or provide a decision on an issue, even though he is not named as the freeholder. After a year of trying to find out who the freeholder really is and whether my lease needs updating, (person x and y both ignored repeated requests), the agency have clarified it is "person x". One of the other leaseholders does actually have person y on their lease. Is it possible for a small conversion with three flats, all of whom are leaseholders to have different freeholders? I also have to pay my management fee to the named MD's account (person "y", rather than company).

I was even advised by the agency that a formal complaint I wanted to submit with regard to extensive delays, should be submitted to the freeholder y (who is not the freeholder) as an individual, who due to his position called upon staff to help him out with his personal affairs. This same person a year later has confirmed that the freeholder is actually freeholder y and has a contract with the managing agency. Is this just incompetence or more? It all seems "off". Can anyone help clarify if you've read this far?! The simplest thing with this flat is a fucking headache!

You need too do a Land Registry search of your address and obtain Office Copy Entries which will tell you who the freeholder is. There will be one freeholder fir the building, it is possible that X sold the freehold to Y which is why you have X on your lease and your neighbour has Y on their lease. If the freeholder has been sold then the purchaser will now be your landlord.

@GoingBacktoSchool123 so there can only be one freeholder? I contacted land registry last year who said it was the freeholder x that was named. They had no record of y on my documentation. I contacted them in case details had changed and I hadn't been informed. I was trying to confirm who freeholder was with the freeholder x and y for two reasons - a) in case the lease needed updating and b) to get someone to take responsibility for getting the works sorted. Would the land registry give me info on neighbour's lease? I've had flat 18 years.

I can't see a way to do it on your app. You might need to go onto the website in your browser,

Thanks very much. I will have a look later when kids are asleep.
