Doesn't this just sound like what we all do?

oranges · 04/11/2007 23:06

Not quite sure why a book needs to be written on it, but maybe I'm missing something.

OP posts:
moondog · 04/11/2007 23:13

Exactly.
It is the usual drivel contained within the drivel that is the Woman Observer magazine.God it is so bloody shite.

hunkermunker · 04/11/2007 23:16

Brett. Now there's a name you don't see on girls' name threads on here...

Carmenere · 04/11/2007 23:17

Because so many bloody judgemental women spend so much of their time being judgemental about other women and their parenting skills ect. Because it is a competitive field now, because if you buy into it, it can make you feel crap about yourself and that will impact on your parenting ability.
I think it is probably a good thing to have a book that says that it is ok to be normal.

hunkermunker · 04/11/2007 23:19

I don't think anyone who is a woman and called Brett is normal.

LoveAngel · 04/11/2007 23:19

The extract was mildly amusing. The whole concept is quite stale though, I thought.

Observer Woman is such a pile of steaming shite.

moondog · 04/11/2007 23:20

God yes.
Tripe
Fucking tripe.

I have written to tell them so too.

Sazisi · 04/11/2007 23:22

I think she sounds quite funny, and want to read the book (with a large glass of red in my other hand!)

But then, I'm easily pleased/impressed, and I love the drivel that is the Observer Woman magazine

oranges · 04/11/2007 23:22

Have you? Did you get a response? What did you say?

OP posts:
oranges · 04/11/2007 23:23

That was to Moondog. because I do find it amazing that a lefwing newspaper can publish a Woman magazine about lipstick, dieting, relationships and having babies. Why not just give us a free copy of Cosmo?

OP posts:
moondog · 04/11/2007 23:25

No,no reply.
I said besically what you are saying.
That silly cow Polly Vernon wants shooting, she really does.

Carmenere · 04/11/2007 23:26

Y'know, I am now trying to read the Observer woman mag and mn at the same time. I don't generally buy the observer and hadn't realised how truly, patronisingly, lightweight it is. Not unlike Style in the ST.

LoveAngel · 04/11/2007 23:28

Obs Woman = Hugely insulting. The way they all fawn over Agnes fucking Dullard Model Woman is pukesome. FGS, I am 30, I am educated, i have kidsm, I do not give two shits whether comedy knitwear is hot this autumn. Really.

moondog · 04/11/2007 23:28

I have long moaned on MN about the inexorable decline of The Observer.
I think I am stuffed for a Sunday paper.

Telegraph shite (although Sat one is good) is is Indie.Had a quick flick through an ST at a friend's today and if anything it has got worse.

LoveAngel · 04/11/2007 23:28

excuse angry typos

moondog · 04/11/2007 23:30

My sentiments entirely LA (re Agnes Wotsit crap.) I checked to see if Polly had written it.Of course she had

expatinscotland · 04/11/2007 23:31

Yawn.

Can these women be anymore dull?

moondog · 04/11/2007 23:32

Expat.
Gathered that you are pg!! Fantastic! Congratulations!
How is your new life going??

LoveAngel · 04/11/2007 23:33

Polly Vernon has been going since I was a Just Seventeemn reader, I swear. And she is still writing the same vacuous crap.

moondog · 04/11/2007 23:34

She needs to fucking grow up doesn't she???

oranges · 04/11/2007 23:34

polly vernon also wrote about how she has no children because it would disrupt her cocktail hour. so she is of course the person we should read to gain meaning in our lives. but this is not really about her. i'm astounded how much the media thinks we should care about our appearances.

OP posts:
moondog · 04/11/2007 23:37

Yes.Who the hell are these women who spend £35 on mango stone and pomegranate seed body scrubs????

expatinscotland · 04/11/2007 23:38

the new life is going even better now that i'm too far away from any place that sells the Sunday papers to be arsed anymore, moony .

LoveAngel · 04/11/2007 23:38

Is Polly 'Cocktail Girl'? Oh I'd forgotten that! God, that is such a dull little piece isn't it? A sort of 'Me and my mates got pissed at yet another fabulous bar last night. It was great!' -type of thing. What rubbish. I am constantly flabbergasted by the shite 'features' the broadsheets print these days.

oranges · 04/11/2007 23:39

That's the point. I actually think I'm rather pretty and dress well, but this frivolity is beyond me. I think I can't compute the idea of a GBP700 handbag. The idea that you can have that money one minute, and then spend it on a bag seems bonkers to me. It seems rather pernicious that we should be told to spend our money on these things at a time consumer debt is soaring.
