I'm not sure I can really understand his gripe. I am searched every time I fly somewhere. I the last wss I have been checked for explosives, had a my body scanned for metal by the metal detecting wand thing they have when you set off the big metal detector, all my bags were scanned, and so on... But I've not been offended. Oh, and twice, I was in muslim countries so I don't really understand the muslim vs. US angle of the article. Surely EVERYONE should be subject to these security measures if we are make air travel safe.

No one should be exempt. Not that security is any good anyway. I had DS's changing bag scanned and then physically searched by a security person last time I flew, and they failed to spot 2 pairs of scissors (one huge) and 3 containers of fluid which I had inadvertently left in there.
