Is Andrew Marr completely non bias? (Ref today's programme)

Never really had much to do with politics but during this pandemic I've realised it's important to be much more aware than I was and taken a greater interest.

I enjoy watching Andrew Marr as usually has relevant ministers on.

However I have noticed that for BBC he doesn't seem completely impartial? He seems to allow Tory PM/ministers to talk and quote their world beating with less challenge than he provides the labour PM/ministers?

I am aware my annoyance at the Tories handing of this may be clouding my judgement.

But this morning Matt Hancock who I have actually felt has been one of the better Tories through this switched back to Tory soundbite script rather than appearing honest and yet when Keir Starmer was honest and answered questions he challenged him repeatedly on the same issue. (For example he repeatedly said whatever his previous stance he wouldn't try and change the brexit treaty they would inherit even though there are parts he doesn't like)

I just felt - personally - that even though I may not have liked what KS said his answers were clearer and more honest and yet I didn't have a chance to work out if I liked MH answered because he didn't give any and wasn't challenged to.

Anyone else feel this and if not am I missing something that someone can explain to me?

Didn't watch it so can't comment directly. Marr was formerly a Maoist. He was also a member of the Socialist Campaign for a Labour Victory, which was an offshoot of the International Communist League. He says he was a "raving leftie" when he was at Cambridge. What we know about him suggests he is still somewhat left of centre but not as extreme as he was in his youth. He may, of course, be overcompensating when interviewing politicians.

When someone quotes a verified correct number to you, to challenge it makes you look like an idiot.

Is this regards this morning? Can you clarify what you mean or what numbers and who?

Marr isn't even vaguely unbiased.

itsgettingweird · 10/01/2021 22:09

That's the impression I got this morning!

But without knowing an interviewer well it's always best to consider your own bias may be affecting you seeing a bias (if that makes sense? 🤣)

He is left wing

Emily Maitlis is another overtly biased interviewer.

I always got the impression he was left leaning. Not Corbyn levels, but left all the same

"Bias" - noun.
"Biased" - adjective.
