Harry

It is well-written and appears to be reasonably sound on facts too (unlike the Colin Farrell Angelman's/CP thing )

Emma Noble sounds fab!

Well......... once I got over the trauma of finding myself reading the Mail....

It was a well written and balanced article. The Major's don't come out of it particularly well do they ?

LIZS · 21/10/2007 12:54

No she was very careful about commenting on them. Bet his lineage had nothing to do with getting a full statement but good on Emma for doing so without attracting/soliciting the glare of publicity as so many would in her position. Her son is verbal though iirc.

hunkermunker · 21/10/2007 12:57

Beautiful, inside and out.

NAB3 · 21/10/2007 17:34

I was just coming to post this.

What an idiot James seems. He doesn't sound much of a father.

PintaBlood · 21/10/2007 17:37

The Majors sound like real doting grandparents don't they?

"John sends Harry a postcard from whatever country he's in"

and she had to tell them of Harry's diagnosis by letter..... speaks volumes, no?

ruty · 21/10/2007 19:53

shocked the grandparents don't do more to help. but very admiring of Emma Noble. She sounds lovely.

Kewcumber · 21/10/2007 20:00

I think its a bit harsh to judge the Majors (Snr) on the basis of one or two lines in an article. The Jnr majors marriage was failing at hte time of the childs diagnosis perhaps she felt awkward about talking to them in such situation.

Who knows?

snowleopard · 21/10/2007 20:17

She sounds lovely.

I actually thought it was quite sweet that John sends cards from all over the world. It shows he is thinking of his grandson although they may be alarmed and still have to come to terms with the situation. It seems if anyone can help them understand, it's her.

Hekate · 21/10/2007 20:18

She sounds like a perfectly normal mum to me. She's not doing anything different to the rest of us, not sure why she needs admiring, tbh.

yurt1 · 21/10/2007 22:09

I don't know. I think most people expect more than 90 minutes sleep a night once their child reaches 7. She should be admired for looking so good on that little sleep if nothing else.

WendyWeber · 21/10/2007 22:50

She's a much lovelier mum than me, Hekate

I thought they divorced cause of her extra marital shenanigans?

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 21/10/2007 22:59

Snow Leopard

Postcards V's Practical help ????.

Even a visit once a month/eight weeks from Grandad and GrandMa beats post cards hands down every day.

LGJ picks Cod up, snaps her into two and peers at the following words.....................................funny, loyal, full of empathy, but hold on what is this ????? ?????????????? Tory voter through and through.......................

We could argue this all night...........he has yet to make his mark. She made hers however brief.

TWO weeks to get in touch.....is shocking to me.

WendyWeber · 21/10/2007 23:20

LGJ, I think cod is talking about JM Sr, not Jr.

JM Jr is a total nonentity so far apparently

I agree JM Sr seems like a nice bloke (despite the peas) - ditto Norma - and IL relationships can be hard.

OP posts:
harpsichordcarrier · 21/10/2007 23:26

I agree with cod, I don't think it is fair to judge the father / grandparents on the basis of this article - just her side of the story. much depends on whether she has asked them for help/ what their relationship is and was.
I ain't no apologist for the Majors but there are two sides to every sotry, especially following a divorce

harpsichordcarrier · 21/10/2007 23:28

oh and she was shagging someone from Emmerdale, which is why he moved out.
allegedly.

mamazon · 21/10/2007 23:42

thats a great article, i knew Emma before she met james and i had no idea her son had Autism.

it is actually odd trying tp picture her as teh mother of an autistic child...but then i imagine it is of me too.

LGJ, I know it's not great, but it is better than nothing. (But then I speak as one who doesn't get practical help from GPs at all... and my DS does enjoy getting letters from them)

My point was, they might eventually come round and be of more use, I don't think they should be written off, and the postcards are a good sign.
