Police officer paid for carrots instead of doughnuts - claims it was an honest mistake!

I can imagine what the police would say to a non police officer if they said it was an honest mistake and they tried to pay for 7p carrots instead of a tray of Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

He even put the carrots in a donut bag, took the carrot sticker off the bag with the carrots in it and stuck it on the doughnut box.

Will be interesting to see the outcome of the disciplinary.

Oh god, I would have just admitted to stealing the donuts. 🤦‍♀️

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/11/2020 11:40

He's embarrassing himself by coming out with this load of bollocks. Hopefully the hearing sees through it all but I won't hold my breath!

Ha yes, a likely sounding story. How sneaky! He was obviously peeved at having to pay a "cake fine", so thought he'd steal them.

Hoppinggreen · 26/11/2020 11:44

Sounds like rubbish, he would have noticed the total surely?
The fact he has come up with this nonsense makes me think he’s even more dishonest

FlibbertyGiblets · 26/11/2020 11:44

I just keep thinking of Chief Wiggum.

LostAcre · 26/11/2020 11:51

Sounds very unlikely.

Especially as the total on the bill was cheaper than the cost of the doughnuts .

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/11/2020 11:58

Yes, in a big weekly shop you could maybe argue you didn't notice the price difference but not when it's such a small shop.

Accidental?

That's nothing, I recently heard of a cop who accidentally strangled his mistress to death.

FlibbertyGiblets · 26/11/2020 14:11

PigletJohn I don't often see blokes calling out male violence, so thank you.

PullTheBricksDown · 26/11/2020 14:15

Rolled my eyes when I saw this reported. Just pathetic! Bet the disciplinary goes nowhere though.

FunnyInjury · 26/11/2020 14:17

Yup Piglet.

Just another honest officer who made an honest mistake.

Sad

Yep. He got away with manslaughter.

The police investigating this said they find it being accidental very hard to believe which is the same as I would expect them to say about a non officer.

MagentaRocks · 26/11/2020 17:15

And it was a jury that found the officer guilty of manslaughter rather than murder.

prh47bridge · 26/11/2020 17:38

It was indeed the jury that made the decision. They could have convicted him of murder but, after three hours deliberation, decided to clear him, leaving the manslaughter charge to which he had already pleaded guilty. The jury, of course, heard all the evidence and had a chance to assess the credibility of the witnesses. We only have press reports. It may be that we would have arrived at a different conclusion if we had been on the jury but we don't know that. And we shouldn't blame this on "the system" or similar. This was twelve ordinary people who decided that, based on the evidence, they did not think the prosecution had proved he was guilty of murder beyond reasonable doubt.

On the subject of this thread, the officer involved has been sacked.

JacobReesMogadishu · 26/11/2020 17:47

Good that this decision has been reached and he’s lost his job...no place for dishonesty in the police. What a stupid person to Chuck his job away for some doughnuts.

Well, he's probably used to his colleagues getting away with far worse...

He's just the one who's been used so they can talk shit about how tough they are on corruption. Hmm

Nicknacky · 27/11/2020 23:17

User174256421345531 Are you a police officer to say that with such confidence?
