No, I'm up now, and I just voted. As a non US citizen permanant resident this will be my only chance to vote!

Ah, well, for a say in the election, the Guardian tried this - scroll down for a link to the start of it.

Haven't time today to read it properly but some of the replies are superb. The Clark County Republicans were seriously unimpressed and I think some of the Democrats will be voting for Dubya now too...Limeys butt out!

Now I've voted twice.

LM, I think it's actually a really good idea to be able to vote early, because it's not always possible to get to the polling station on election day itself, and voter turnout in this country is appallingly low. Of course Floridians need all the help they can get when it comes to elections!

Oh yes, very difficult to poke the little metal stick through a piece of paper. VERY difficult.

Uwila - thats the flaw with this - you should only be able to vote once really!

They give Oregon a head start, too, because we are only vote-by-mail. Today I'm taking our ballots down to the County Election Department so they don't get lost in the mail!

Joolstoo, I meant that I voted in the real election (as I am American) and I voted on the wesite once.

What? The entire state of oregon votes by mail? Really?

Yeah, its always been that way during my voting life. I noticed they are starting to put more regulations on it this year, such as I had to go down to the elections department and provide proof of address and ID.

So, you've got no voting booths? I know I sound really think here, but I just can't believe you don't physically go down to the polls on election day.

No booths. You either mail your ballot in or drop it off at a collection site or the county elections department. But since we're in such a small town, there is only 1 drop off, and thats at the elections department. Last election was so convenient, because they had a drop-off at my college, and I just took our ballots down there.

We're getting 'Question Time' from Florida a week today - should be interesting!

Don't know if you know about this programme - in GB we have this weekly current affair programme - there are 5 panel members (usually MP's, Journalists and the like) and the Chairman and an audience who put questions to the panel and discuss recent issues, it gets a bit heated at times! - its very good I'm an avid viewer! (looking forward to the Florida one!)

We have nothing like that in my area. But we do get c-span, which shows Prime Minister's Questions every Sunday night. I love watching that, because it is about the funniest thing I've seen, and frankly, I wish American politics was that entertaining.

We were in the US around election time a few years back & used to get stopped every day by campaigners encouraging us to vote.They were so disappointed when they found out that we weren't eligable.

Can I vote for President Bartlet (the West Wing)? I find him far more confidence inspiring than any RL candidates.

Don't know if QT will be shown in America but Michael Moore is on - should be VERY interesting!!!!
