How will you vote if there is a general election?

Just being nosey... Don't answer if you don't want to. From some of the comments that I have read on threads it seems that even the vomit-inducing BNP are more popular than the tories.

Me first, I will probably not vote. Live in a tory stronghold and it just doesn't seem worth it.

OK then, it appears the Policywonk Party will be standing against the Elvish Party. Who's left and who's right?

ahundredtimes · 03/10/2007 11:22

Oh no Sue, we are going to be very a la mode and all stand in the middle, stamping on each others toes and elbowing our way to the front to show we have the best and most workable policies on wormeries.

SueBarooeeooeeooooo · 03/10/2007 15:04

just watched Cameron's speech, and I'm still in a quandary. Do I join 'DavidCameronisaHottie' or 'AmITheonlyonewhoHatesDavidCameron' on facebook?

I am sure about one thing, though. My geek status is confirmed because when he suggested six words to say about Gordon Brown, my mind instantly thought 'Don't you think he looks tired?' and I have now put that Doctor Who episode on...

Tinker · 03/10/2007 15:07

'Dave' is actually on Facebook himself so you could just poke him

constancereader · 03/10/2007 15:09

Tory

constancereader · 03/10/2007 15:11

pmsl at Caroline's description of Cameron.

ratclare · 03/10/2007 15:17

they will all continue to f**k up the NHS ,they all lie and get away with it , they all scam ludicrous amounts of money out of the taxpayer to fund their above average wage lifestyles. I will go and i will vote ,but it all seems so pointless

Cammelia · 03/10/2007 15:22

I don't care what anyone votes

so long as it isn't Labour

Bundle · 03/10/2007 15:22

with a pencil

Desiderata · 03/10/2007 15:37

Any government that can preside over the criminal shambles that is the CSA does not deserve a vote.

Bastards ....

Tinker · 03/10/2007 15:45

CSA was Thatcher's baby wasn't it?

Bundle · 03/10/2007 15:46

john major's i think

constancereader · 03/10/2007 15:48

Regardless of who started the CSA, Labour have been in charge of it for the last decade.

Desiderata · 03/10/2007 15:51

Oh, I'm well aware that it was started by the Tories with the aim of finding errant fathers, and making them pay for their offspring. Not a bad idea, on paper.

But that's not what happens.

Tinker · 03/10/2007 15:55

It wasn't designed for that at all. It was designed to cut the benefits bill. Mothers lost in benefit what was gained from the fathers

constancereader · 03/10/2007 16:03

Or another way of looking at it - fathers paid for their own children rather than the taxpayer doing so.

Except it doesn't work anyway.

UnquietDad · 03/10/2007 16:42

If Cameron dreads a snap election now, secretly thinking he might lose - is it actually a stroke of genius to make a speech calling vociferously for one?

Because he knows that GB will think twice about calling an election which it appears has been produced after a demand from the Opposition. That could make GB look weak - i.e. he dithered until challenged.

So if GB calls one, he risks making it look like a sap to the Opposition - and if he doesn't, he looks like a coward.

Brilliant!

MuffinMclay · 03/10/2007 16:43

Tory

UnquietDad · 03/10/2007 16:56

Interesting stuff here from a November-sceptic.

mylittlefreya · 03/10/2007 17:42

I am really hoping for the general election to be in November. Because election campaigns are hell and it would get it over and done with.

Party politics does make me want to despair sometimes, but locally on a making things happen level, I've got to admit it's addictive.

NadineBaggott · 03/10/2007 20:29

I don't think I've seen as many Tory voters on one thread.

Well, at least not admitting to it!

francagoestohollywood · 03/10/2007 20:49

I can't vote!!!

Cammelia · 03/10/2007 23:34

I'm not a Tory voter I just hate Labour

Particularly my local MP so I will be voting whoever is most likely to get him out

louii · 03/10/2007 23:41

SNP.
You do all realise if the SNP do really well against Labour in Scotland, and win more seats (again), then Labour have next to no chance of being returned in Westminster.

UnquietDad · 04/10/2007 09:09

People are still nervous about "coming out" as Tories, which was why the polls were so wrong in '92 - and why they may be wrong again.
