HURRAH for Asda. May the other supermarkets take note. I get soo fed up with seeing van drivers, childless cars etc parked in Mother and Baby/toddler spaces.

SweetCherryPie obviously you don't include disablesd bays in that. as disabled people are allowed out afeter 8

Flamesparrow · 27/09/2007 17:27

Disabled spaces - yes, fine lots.

P&T - they are an added bonus to a shopping trip, but not a right! REALLY not worth tantrums and fines.

juuule · 27/09/2007 18:37

Agree with Flame.

CaptainUnderpants · 27/09/2007 18:53

Do the shopping on the internet and get it deleivered !

Furball · 27/09/2007 19:07

I have a 6 yo and OK I go shopping when he is at school but if he did need to come with me to the supermarket I find that in a normal space it's bloody hard to open the door enough for me to do up his seat belt without knocking the car next to me. Does anyone else not suffer this or are you the ones putting dents in my door?

Peachy · 27/09/2007 19:12

Shop locally? what at the single village Spar? - er no ta!

I can't be arsed with M&T, would love a blue badge (our council won't accept that that 2 asd children is ahrder to manage than 1 and won't isue a dicretionary badge sadly, and DLA haven't awrded us mobility)

But as bump grows I may be so inclined to sue them, who knows?

Certainly fine those who use disabled spaces

Meglet · 27/09/2007 19:17

Glad ASDA are cracking down on people who park in mum & child spaces. Although agree they should be moved away from the front of the store so lazy people aren't so tempted to park in them. As long as I have a bit of space to load / unload DS and shopping I am happy to trudge across the car park.

Furball, I am crap at parking and this is another reason why I love parent parking spaces, less chance of me bashing another car .

Peachy · 27/09/2007 19:17

(and I know this is incendiary but if in all honesty I can park my poeple carrier (espace) in a normal space, and cope with 3 kids, 2 with sn.... come on, it ain't that hard in the scheme of things!)

3andnomore · 27/09/2007 19:18

hm...I think it's great news...
and for those that ask why people with young Kids should have the spaces nearish the door...well, i suppose it is all about safety...p&t spaces are not jsut about the wider spaces, but also about getting your children safely into the shop...i.e. if you have several under 5's forinstance it may proof difficult to do this safely....saying that....now that ys is 3, I do not use p&t at all anymore...because now , with my 2, I know roadsafety isn't so much of an issue, and well, I just park further away, where you always have plenty of space to open the doors, cos no one parks there...

I do find that disability parking does take priority, and that if a disabled person doesn't find a disabled space, they should be able to park in m&t is it is near a door...as they really DO NEED the space more then any parent...

as for the suggestion of online shopping...whilst I did save lots of money really, I suppose...less temptation, and ability to adjust your order once you see the price and pick out what you need and what you don't...sadly you don't always get teh freshes produce...

local shopping, fab idea....IF you live in teh right area, I suppose...live in a smaller town, not always possible...

3andnomore · 27/09/2007 19:19

when I said my 2...I meant my younger 2...lol,. as es is 11 now, so not actually an issue for many years, in this respect, lol...

tazmosis · 28/09/2007 13:30

Great - it really P's me off when I've fought to get the baby seat out of the car in a normal space and then stagger past some git's 2 seater sports car in the P & T space!

Peachy · 28/09/2007 18:06

But my friend has a two seater with her dd? Isn't she entitled (no partner so plenty big enough) to P&T as well? If it is there for one and all that

tazmosis · 28/09/2007 22:08

Sorry - badly explained, it wasn't the car, it was the fact that the driver was in the shop and the passenger was still in the car -he was about 45 years old.

paolosgirl · 28/09/2007 22:15

Good on you, Asda! Finally all those cretins who've sworn at me, smirked at me and been downright rude to me when I've dared to point out to them that they've parked in a P and C space will have their comeuppance.

Re supermarket car parks design, though - we've got a new Morrisons here, with the P and C spaces sited further away from the shop than many of the other spaces. Does that stop people parking there when they shouldn't? Does it hell. Apparently it's easier to park in the nice, wide spaces (as 3 4x4 drivers have informed me on separate occasions )

paolosgirl · 28/09/2007 22:17

And shop locally???? At the tiny co-op???!!!!

Idobelieveinfairies · 29/09/2007 14:03

Nothing worse than getting back to your car and you can't get the car seat back into the car as you have been cramed it...especially when poring with rain.

I would welcome this new rule.

It's very very very hard when you have baby twins and need to access both sides of your car to put the seats back in!
