... what exactly did he do?

Seems he is getting a lot of credit for basically being a bystander!!

I did snort at this and thought 'oh FFS, it's not exactly newsworthy, is it?

but then I did deliver my dd2 all on my own - midwife also stuck in traffic and dh watching jungle book with dd1 at the other end of the house, oblivious to my shouts of "come here, the head is out!!" - doing it with a dh and a 999 operator seems positively crowded

oh crikey scampadoodle, I think you win

at least I had no onlookers

Oh no geekgirl, the crown is yours! Although don't you think that on one level you're completely out of it & on another completely determined so that 'trifles' like being alone save for a child, or being in a busy street just don't matter? Nature takes over & it's only afterwards that you think, "Christ on a bike!"

I have been the person on the other end of the phone when I worked for the ambulabce service and have 'delivered' several babies over the phone. I loved taking those calls although I did have one bloke who shouted at his wife to 'keep the bloody noise down' because he couldn't her what I was saying over the noise of her in labour! Idiot.

(I never ended up in the paper and neither did many of my colleagues- most of which have delivered breech babies, babies in cars, babies on boats etc)

babies on boats I liked reading the transcript, I guess the time delay is partly due to having to request it (under the Freedom of Information Act perhaps?).

Honestly - I would hate to be a dad at delivery time. Clearly being the mum ain't no walk in the park but at least you have a job to do. It would be like watching your dh's leg being amputated and being obliged to make soothing comments like "breathe through the pain, you can do this".

Am in awe of you guys. I guess the difference is that he's a journalist, so he gets to make a living out of something that happens every day. Cheeky pups that they are.
