Oh people on here say what they want alright...

I am certainly not against saying what you want, but some of you reach coven territory sometimes.

Obviously "popping out a baby does not make you anything" (as eloquent as expected), but having a child usually makes you understand how painful it would be to lose a child. That is the only reason I made the mother reference.

This is an open community, comment all you want. I just think that because this is a parenting website the "dead" 4 year old part of the title is just unbelievable!!

BecauseImWorthIt · 16/09/2007 11:02

I think the whole point is that Cod was not talking about the specific funeral, but funerals that she would prefer not to have, in general.

Why anyone would object to that I cannot understand.

No idea why I'm sticking up for Cod as she can well do that herself but it seems to me that people are so quick to jump to the wrong conclusion too often on MN at the moment.

BecauseImWorthIt · 16/09/2007 11:02

And if that pushes me into coven territory, pass me the pointy hat.

fireflyfairy2 · 16/09/2007 11:06

Sugarmatches, what's your problem?

Why take things so personally?

(which might just be an insult to 6 year olds everywhere)!!

(as eloquent as expected)

You're posting offensive comments as above

fireflyfairy2, i agree: sorry sugermatches but, if you're so offended by the title i suggest you go and report everyone who joins in the madelaine threads because most oif that is squabbling and theorising and mumsnetters posting threads about the poor girl, and well, as every paper states now nearly every day, there is a possibility she is dead, sadly, but hopefully not. Eloquence? Well, what exactly is wrong with twenty pence's comment? childbirth, raising children is a basic funcy=tion: it doesn't mean motherhood automatically gives you a sainthood: we're pushing out offspring just as plenty of animals do!! And are mothers supposed to have a moral highground that our mere plebby non mother friends cannot possibly be expected to comprehend or share?

sugarmatches · 16/09/2007 11:17

Reread the title.
She did not mean funerals she would rather not have at all. She meant that so many people are talking about M McC and she was criticised on another thread for talking about the biker funeral. She created a new thread to pretty much say "why can some people talk about this and I can't talk about that".

I have no problem, but I take exception to casual references to a "missing" child. Sorry, but this just pushed a bit too far.

Some people get away with saying anything they want and for some reason there is a bandwagon going around that everyone jumps on.
It is like school. Defending the undefendable, just to fit in.

And I should expect some of you already have a pointy hat at the ready.

walbert · 16/09/2007 11:17

The only reason I said as a mother is because I am assuming as we all have children, we know how heartbreaking it would be to lose them.

I am not prone to using "as a mother" often, because I can appreciate that anyone can have a baby, but being a mother is something else entirely.
I just assumed we were all mothers on here.

And cod was the first one to tell people to stop talking on the other threads. Now people cannot say the same to her??

walbert · 16/09/2007 11:22

For heavens sake! There are children missing across the world, it ios not a dismissive casual reference, but ANY reference cannot justify the terrible nature of this scenario. What gets on my wick is that if people are so devastated (understanably) by madelaine's disapereance, why aren't they looking out for the hundreds, thousands of missing children that don't get the benefit of media attention? Ben Needham's still missing, go to the nspcc, see the many cases of missing children, what about the poorer countries where there is np media to helpparents: madelaine is one of many poor poor souls and if you are getting so het up about a (not disrespectful) mention to her name thengo to netmums to calm down!

walbert · 16/09/2007 11:23

Oh, isn't bill bailey a fox, by the way?

Sugar, you assume wrong. There are many posters on here who are not mothers.

icod didn't mention MMC actually. So another assumption on your behalf.

You should get a fluffy ticker..

@~@~@~@~@~@ It's been 2 minutes & 45 secoonds since my last assumption @~@~@~@~@

walbert · 16/09/2007 11:31

fireflyfairy, i assume you think it's appropriate to be so forward in sharing your assumptions? Are you assuming we're interested?

sugarmatches · 16/09/2007 11:32

I am not devastated by her disapearance, I did not know her. I think it is sad, but I am not particularly devestated by this case.
I am an overprotective mum at times and situations like this justify why I am.

I would not leave my child alone to have dinner with my dh. I don't smack, but I might if my kids were very naughty. I don't feed my kids Greggs sausage rolls, but I have given them the Marks ones. The happily munch on Chicken McNuggets occasionally and wash them down with drinks filled with e-numbers. I don't have a nanny, but would if i could afford it. My dd could be a model but she doesn't have the personality for it.

I am not a freak who picks on everything. I am just a normal person who mostly agrees with everyone and has a laugh on MN. that tital was just mean.

And it wasn't just mean about Madeleine, it was mean about any child that goes missing or is killed.

fireflyfairy2 · 16/09/2007 11:33

Are you denying your interest?

Are you in denial?

Would you like a fluffy ticker?

fireflyfairy2 · 16/09/2007 11:34

Ah sugar, I'm sorry.

I've had a crap nights sleep.

I have a sore head.

And I smell.

Off to the shower with me....

sugarmatches · 16/09/2007 11:34

I cannot spell though.

walbert · 16/09/2007 11:37

I'd love a fluffy ticker! Anyway sugermatches, what's wrong with greggs???? Now you're starting!!

sugarmatches · 16/09/2007 11:39

I have never even heard of Greggs, but we have a Morrison's nearby which my friend says i am chavvy to shop at. I would drive miles to buy from Greggs if they do a 3 for 2.

walbert · 16/09/2007 11:43

Morrisons rule! They have the litle hot foood counters that are a bit like greggs inside, too. Yum yum. Who care if Mozzers (as we lovingly refer to it in our house) is chav? It's cheap and they do saver stamps!
