it's like alan partridge

portonovo · 11/09/2007 15:23

It's totally scary, have you ever slept in a Travelodge? We have, and do, but only when we can get the £5-15 a night deals and have no other choice. I spent 5 consecutive nights in one once and that was more than enough. More a necessity than a life choice.

Now, if it were one of those old-fashioned hotels I could understand it - like the ones Agatha Christie characters (usually old gents) used to live in!

grouchyoscar · 11/09/2007 15:58

OK...no util bills, no housework, no decorating or DIY or trades but..It's a bit of an empty existance don't you think? I quite like having my own home (or rather buying it back off the Building Society)

Can I ask, do they have big plates

BarbieGirl · 11/09/2007 16:40

They obviously must spend a fortune in eating out every day surely? Travelodges don't have rooms with kitchen facilities do they??

auntyspan · 11/09/2007 16:45

BONKERS

but in such a good way

figroll · 11/09/2007 17:06

What odd people. Have Travelodges been around for 20 years though? May be they can claim "squatters' rights" after 21 years and claim ownership of Travelodge plc.

Bouncingturtle · 11/09/2007 17:13

Totally bonkers. Travelodge is shit. PremierTravelInn is far nicer. Last time I stayed in a Travelodge, there was one towel, no shower curtain and the tv was broke.
Had to live with it coz we'd checked in at 1am (late flight back from Spain), but we wrote an email to complain and they refunded our money!

totaleclipse · 11/09/2007 17:16

There is a hotel near me, there longest resident is IIRC 14 years and counting.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/09/2007 17:17

I think they had to eat in the Happy Eater or the other one (eew!)

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/09/2007 17:17

I mean Little Chef

suedonim · 11/09/2007 17:22

Lol! Dh and I have fantasised about selling the house when all the dc have fled the nest, buying a camper van and alternating staying at our darlings' abodes with stopping over at Travel Lodges.

suedonim · 11/09/2007 17:30

I agree with BouncingTurtle that Premier Travel Inns are much better. And ime Holiday Inns are better still! We've used them since 1987, when travelling up and down between Aberdeen to Kent.
