In various places today, but here's The Sun

Bit of a shame, as they are supremely comfortable for people on their feet all day, but I can see the concerns if they ARE causing static?

our biggest patient to date was 34 stone...with awful diorrhea, i do not know how we managed. Have to say tho that we now have access to bariatric equipment when we need it, which really helps.
got to do it tho.

I wish they'd ban them everywhere. They are the ugliest things I've ever seen.

dissle surely you shouldnt be 'lifting' anyone, dont you have a manual handling policy?

Think this is gonna depend on Trusts. I cant see the problem really, if the argument is the holes then nurses should be allowed to wer the closed in crocs, although how many shots it would take to get a needle through the holes is anyones guess.

There was an article in the Nursing Standard this week with a RCN rep saying that as long as the colour is appropriate (e.g. navy or black) then she couldnt see a problem.

If the NHS had to pay for our shoes we'd be wearing plastic bags on our feet, the uniforms are of shocking quality

lucyellensmum · 06/09/2007 17:45

Me? oooh noo, luuuurve a good old shoe shally these things are taking over the world though, it does make you wonder if they somehow have a sort of sinister hold over us that would befit a halloweeen3 type movie.

mosschops30 · 06/09/2007 17:48

lol at halloween 3 mask-takeover

dissle · 06/09/2007 17:52

okokok...then we "handle and move" patients!

we dont "lift".

How else will we move them, you still have to get the hoist sling under them by rolling them, then the bloody hoist gets stuck on the legs of the bed so the thing wont go up.

we use easy slides to move people up beds, still takes 4 of us.

the crocks thing is that you can slip out of them, also piss seaping through the holes is not what i would call pleasant.
solid shoes where you can wipe of those little sprinkles of poo and wee are better imho.

So get the crocs without holes then. They make crocs for nurses that don't have holes. They are actual crocs...not the generic cheap shoe shop kind.
