I guess because they are the biggest clubs and have 'history' people like to wind them up.

Hmm I suppose so, but you would think that since they are allegedly claening up their act WRT sectarianism, then they would try and keep out the headlines

I suppose unless we really know what was said then it's hard to know if it was unreasonable to react or not. It's a shame as the old firm games aren't as bad anymore [on the pitch at least] from what I've seen.

they haven't really been cleaning up their act though, especially given uefa's recent warnings to rangers over the secterian songs in their first game of the season.

There is a core of die-hard fans on both sides who won't give up. IMO a ban from travelling support for a whole season might work, especially when the fans realise it's just a handful of supposrters who have caused the ban, they might then pressure the teams management to ban these people for life. It won't happen though
But then this is the Old Firm we are taling about and I think SFA/UEFA etc are scared of them.

the sfa might be but uefa have absolutely no reason to be. neither of them are european powerhouses and they play in probably the least glamorous league to be given an automatic CL spot. the fact that rangers were issued with the threat so quickly compared to the paltry fines dished out to the spanish after their national and clubs side where involved in racist chanting is very telling.
