Would you have a family holiday in Turkey next summer?

Have a Holiday booked.

Family members go 3 times a year, never had an issue but I'm not sure, especially lately.

Would lose a small amount. 300ish if I decided not to go.

No. There are so many other places to go.

TurkeyDoubts · 15/10/2019 16:50

Turkey is beautiful. I went as a child a few times and it is cheap, the people are lovely. Beaches too.

But yeah, I just don't think I want to go :(

I like turkey, but I wouldn't go on holiday there again anytime soon.

bellalou1234 · 15/10/2019 16:59

I go every year to kalkan, lovely place, people, never felt safer.

TurkeyDoubts · 15/10/2019 17:06

Bella that's what family member says.

I've just so much in the news about unrest there.

I already lost my flights with Thomas cook.

I don't know whether to just take the hit on the accommodation and rebook somewhere else.

I would go in a heartbeat. It's such a huge country, any trouble is well away from the resorts.

Parky04 · 15/10/2019 17:11

No. The attacks on the Kurds is a disgrace. Will never go there again.

Fairylea · 15/10/2019 17:12

No.

GrumpyHoonMain · 15/10/2019 17:13

No. The Kurds will retaliate an probably target the airports. It’s not worth the risk.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/10/2019 17:13

No I wouldn’t.

FurryDogMother · 15/10/2019 17:13

I agree with @Parky04 - no way will the Turkish economy be getting any of my money!

SamBeckettslastleap · 15/10/2019 17:14

Yes, as much as anywhere else in Europe Would you go to France/Germany England? All have had worse recent terror attacks. Yes there is some instability but Turkey is a massive country, the holiday destinations are thousands of miles away from the Syrian border.

sunshinesupermum · 15/10/2019 17:20

No becuase Erdogan's behaviour is slaughtering the Kurds is unforgiveable. It's nothing to do with how nice the average Turkish person is.

stucknoue · 15/10/2019 17:34

I would not go, but who knows by next summer. I would hold off booking and wherever you go, buy insurance!

Skyejuly · 15/10/2019 18:34

Agree with Sunshine

daisypond · 15/10/2019 18:37

No. I wouldn’t want to support the regime.

daisypond · 15/10/2019 18:53

Why are people talking about terrorism? Surely that’s not the issue the OP is meaning.

user1497207191 · 02/11/2019 11:22

We went once - lovely country, shame about the people. OH got robbed in a busy street, and I ended up in hospital with food poisoning. Our hotel should have been condemned years ago, breakfast was ridiculous - only boiled eggs and stale bread. Receptionist tried to con me when we changed some currency. Went to what looked like a nice restaurant but which was plagued with stray cats, one of which threw up on my shoe! Add to all that, they're in no hurry to settle the divided Cyprus situation (I was born in Cyprus) so that's another reason I won't be going back to Turkey any time soon.

ListeningQuietly · 02/11/2019 11:51

No
Because Erdogan's regime should never be supported.

Same with Sis's regime in Egypt (Sharm)

And any of the Gulf states - where they have online slave markets for domestic staff

blue25 · 02/11/2019 11:55

People saying they’ve been a few times and it’s so nice are completely missing the point. Do you watch the news? Do you realise what’s going on currently?

No way would I go to Turkey anytime soon & I’ve been before and enjoyed it.

Darkbendis · 03/11/2019 17:05

No.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 03/11/2019 17:14

Probably I love Kalkan but wouldn't go many other beach resorts.

I have major concerns about the government but if I avoided a country for ethical reasons due to its policies I'd probably never go anywhere - and I have problems with our own too.

shivermetimbers77 · 03/11/2019 17:18

Boycotting Turkey is not going to discourage Erdogan (who is a narcissistic dictator so unfortunately doesn't much care what others think of him) , but will hurt the pockets of the already struggling Turkish workers. I have family there so will definitely be going.

heartsandkisses0 · 13/11/2019 20:51

No way! Especially not with children

AutumnColours9 · 30/11/2019 14:53

No it is far too near to Syria
