No water supply in Cheltenham for another 2 weeks???

Like a lot of Cheltenham and Gloucester, I have had no mains water since Sunday. I am at work at the moment and have heard that it will not be reconnected for possibly another 2 weeks. Has anyone else heard this - please someone say it's not true!!! Plus, also can someone tell me where the water bowsers are, because there are none near me (Bishop's Cleeve) as far as I know.

kittylouise - look at these photos Here No comment about the chap 'I'm alright jack' with the shopping trolley

They are pumping out the water station here. We live om edge of Gloucester so have no water but I have been a wooss and come to my parents in Sussex! DH at work at the mo but coming down at the weekend. Luckily he had leave booked for next week as we have a wedding to go to down here, so we were going to be here anyway. I'm sure it won't be two weeks without water - they are going to give us the worst case scenario surely? (hopeful emoticon). My heart bleeds for anyone who got flooded or has no where to decamp to for the duration

Talking about the "i'm alright Jack" types.
Yesterday evening on the local news they showed people being given 2 cases of water PER FAMILLY, most people stuck to this rule.
But then the camera crew saw an asian familly with 2 trolleys full to the brim with water and asked them why they had so much?
You could tell they were pi**ed off at having been found out and they got all defensive and they thought it was 2 cases of water EACH, they were a large familly of 6.
When they had enough of being questioned they just glared at the camera and said that the interviewer could not speak English.
There is no excuse for hidding behind your supposed lack of understanding of a language, he could see how much other people had, they were just plain greedy.

Prime minster was challenged today at question time about why it is actually going to take 14 days to sort out this water problem. His reply was very factual that we all have access to drinking water available from supermarkets (have you seen the queues?) and we all have access to bowsers. Thats fine for a few days, but for 2 weeks? People will be ill over this surely, it's very hard to keep basic sanitation with a few bottles of water. Even just washing hands is bloody difficult, says she who went back in time 40 years and had a strip wash with a bowl, soap and flannel!

Our local shop had a very nice looking lettuce. I looked at it going to buy it and saw it had soil on it and thought - how the blooming heck am I going to wash that without wasting all our water.

dh went and bought 2 x 5 litre bottles of water for something like £1.20 each from near his work in the west midlands. So now we have good sized containers to collect more at a time from the bowsers.

Disgusting that some people really abusing the situation by leaving the bowser taps open for a laugh! Thankfully it doesn't seem to hae happened around here but it should be a huge criminal offence for endangering the health and welbeing of others. Surely they must realise that this bloody dangerous. Also at the sheer cheek of others taking car loads full of free bottles.

Unless there is a policeman stood at every bowser, catching the culprit is going to prove very hard.

Cannot believe that some people are leaving the taps open for a laugh - what the hell is that all about??

The washing with bottled water etc is not too bad, but the toilets. They are starting to get foul. I work at a site with over 1000 people, and we have about a dozen portaloos. Today they started to really stink...

It seems unbelievable that this is for abnother 2 weeks.

I know someone who is getting temporarily house at the Queens Hotel in Cheltenham (nice) - they have no water at the moment, but are apparently having some delivered tomorrow, which will be to provide showers for guests etc. Seems a bit unfair really.

I think loads of people are doing that, it's a good idea.

I might go to my mum's house (and take loads of washing - sure she would be delighted)

Mind you, that's what my brother does when he comes back from university in the holidays.

Whereabouts are you in Cheltenham sweeties - I know someone in Leckhampton who still has water (bastard!)

Have live in Bishop's Cleeve for 8 months (moved from Devon).

I thought Springbank was OK (that's what have been told)

I think Cleeve is OK but my boyfriend is Cheltenham born and bred and says that people from Cleeve are hillbillies! So I fit right in coming from Devon!

snap - I had my dd at 17 too. Isn't it lovely how people give you funny looks when you tell them your age and child's age, and then they do the sums and work out...ohmigod TEENAGE mother.

Well, I was a teenage single mother on income support for a while, so really was scum of the earth! Sod 'em.
