The man's a joke. I mean, really.

FioFioJane · 16/07/2007 10:30

I bet he would get on well with ketie from the apprentice

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/07/2007 10:31

I might !!

MyEye · 16/07/2007 10:32

I was just thinking about this. There is no way.
Point in his favour: he cycles everywhere. And, um, that's about it.

Marina · 16/07/2007 10:36

No. Despite liking most of Ken's policies on the whole, I would welcome a proper, credible challenger next time - if only to prove to sceptics that Ken really is, at present, the best person for the job.
I think it is very unwise of the Tories to field a comedy candidate yet again. It is well known they don't really buy into the idea of a Mayor for London or an elected London Assembly, and their contempt for the concept does them no credit at all. They did of course dismantle ILEA and the GLC, and flog County Hall off to foreign investors.

FioFioJane · 16/07/2007 10:37

marina your email does not like me anymore

serenity · 16/07/2007 10:57

Not a chance, for pretty much the same reasons Marina has already put. I can't believe that there is anyone who could consider him a serious politician.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/07/2007 11:01

he is definitely standing - just heard on news !

Marina · 16/07/2007 12:09

Fio, you are not alone have no idea what's going on, so will mail YOU and you can reply...

Blu · 16/07/2007 12:15

No, I will not be voting for Boris Johnson. For Marina's reasons, because i wouldn't vote for any Tory, because I wouldn't vote for BJ as anything other than presenter of some sort of lightish-weight tv programme or 'shag me I work for the Spectator' reality gameshow - or perhaps a Gillian McKeith style hairdressing show.

Ken is a bit barmy at times, but he really cares about London and deals with it both as Capital city / Globalised Metropolis and financial engine of the country (yes, amongst others...) but also as a local place for local residents. The Fares fair policies, the Thames days etc. Credible challenge is always good, though.

Desiderata · 16/07/2007 12:22

Well, I think he'd make an excellent mayor.

BORIS FOR PRIME MINISTER, I say! Anything but that dour, mad old fecker we've currently got

bossykate · 16/07/2007 12:23

i agree with marina and blu.

beansprout · 16/07/2007 12:28

Yes Desi, being thought of as "entertaining" is really the most important quality a PM should have!!

OP posts:
TheDullWitch · 16/07/2007 12:29

No. But I am so looking forward to his campaign!

donnie · 16/07/2007 13:39

I would prefer Jeff Archer. You know where you are with him.

suzycreamcheese · 16/07/2007 14:14

there is no difference between tories and new labour anymore

blu how do you think ken cares for london?

our beloved routemasters are all but gone
bendy buses are nasty to ride on and unsuitable for this city and dangerous to cyclists too

i detest the oyster system (incomplete too!) and lament the passing of family weekend passes

the best thing that i saw happen to 'red' ken was when he was booed at the anti war demo in trafalgar square after re-joining labour party

ScottishMummy · 16/07/2007 14:32

gawd - i really find boris a vile-abhorrent-ranting-mouthy-unrefined-as-charming-as-a-bag-of-sick-tory-twat-who-writes-for-daily -mail-stupid-meglomaniac-fool Awww that just about covers it

ScottishMummy · 16/07/2007 14:34

boris gives me the wet boak

suzycreamcheese · 16/07/2007 14:36

will be interesting to see what happens re: metronet threatening to going bust...
...another real new labour ppp disaster pushed through by groden brown and treasury...would probably reflect badly on ken even though he fought against implication of this...

GroaningGameGirly · 16/07/2007 14:41

I just think it's hilarious and like DullWitch, I'm looking forward to his campaign no end. Trouble is, I really don't know what he's ever DONE as an MP. I just know him as that daft bloke from HIGNFY, and the one who can't keep his sausage in his pants. I read this morning that the Tories had had trouble coming up with a heavy-weight opponent to Ken Livingstone ... but surely they don't think they've found it in Boris?!

I'd like to think that in order to become an MP, he is reasonably intelligent and has proved himself in some way ... but then I look at other MPs and think that perhaps you don't require integrity and intelligence to be one.

foxinsocks · 16/07/2007 14:42

he's got to come up with a manifesto so I think it'll be interesting to see what's in it

noddyholder · 16/07/2007 14:42

I would move back to london to vote for him

chopchopbusybusy · 16/07/2007 14:45

I think Boris Johnson is fabulous...

as a panellist on HIGNFY.
Mayor of London... eeehm thanks, but no.

bagsundereyes · 16/07/2007 14:47

Lord, no. And if I see that great bumbling oaf riding his bike ON THE PAVEMENT again (witnessed twice so far) iI think I should be given free rein with a pea-shooter.

curiouscat · 16/07/2007 14:47

I think Boris as a candidate demonstrates the contempt in which the Tories regard the electorate and London residents by not fielding a serious candidate.

I'd vote for Ken anyway but hate to see Boris getting any more attention than he already does, the self publicising, can't keep it zipped, lightweight twit.

sfxmum · 16/07/2007 14:49
