phone masts - worried mums

mumsnetters beware, phone companies are riding roughshod over local protests and even local councils, to place their phone masts, with potential health problems for residents.

t mobile are building a mobile mast by our playground, paddling pool, school and homes. they were turned down but are proceeding because of a legal loophole that has been used in many other areas of the country. a lot of parents have real health fears. babies and pensioners have been out on the streets to try and stop it

if you are in east london you may want to join our campaign. if you live elsewhere have a look at our website and be vigilant so it doesn't happen to you.

I wonder how many of the people complaining about these masts are themselves mobile phone users and are always whinging about the poor reception in their area? I don't own one by the way!

we all use flush toilets. but we would expect some consultation before having a sewage plant next to homes or a school!

hey ks, thanks for the tips, many of which are new. is there any more info on your success e.g. a website or someone I could talk to?

Meysey, the health risks concerning sewage etc are well documented. The health risks from phone mast have yet to be proven or established, unless I'm missing something. Chances are you are probably more at risks using a mobile phone whilst walking or driving because you are not concentrating on what you are doing. I wonder how many people still use their mobiles whilst driving, even though it is illegal? Why don't people campaign against that which in my mind, would be a better use of time and energy .
