I can't understand why, when this is reported, that there is no mention of the parents of these poor young women being prosecuted, or being made to pay. Or, better still, being deported.

It wou be a lot better if the rents were charged, £5 a week if on the dole, buut otherwise an attachment against earnings or whatever it's called.

We do have a big problem with our society's attitude to taxes though. The only way to pay for schools, NHS, Social Care, police and this, as well as everything else is to raise taxes. We all know that's a vote loser as few people see taxes as much more than the Government stealing their "hard earned money". Money has to come from somewhere.

I don't see a problem with them being charged to come home. I think it's brilliant that we have foreign office that would go to such lengths to bring them back to safety. If I got into trouble abroad I would happily pay. I agree that it would be better if the parents or offending relatives were made to pay first and foremost. But we as a nation do not have a bottomless pit of cash nor do most workers have the ability to pay more tax when wages are stagnant but the price of everything from bread to clothes just keeps on rising.
