Surely, this flies in face of everything that justifies the very concept of a Europen Union.

EU deal drops free competition

I can't believe no one wants to talk about the removal of a free market.

I thought that was why they started the European Union in the first place

they're not dropping free competition though, they're dropping the dogmatic worship of it that meant any kind of state aid for industry was banned.

The "point" iof the EU for companies is that we can import and export to and from Europe without any mucking about, and that is still true even with this amendment.
