He looks like a normal 27 year old, even had the girlfriend.

You just can never tell.

Going back to the OP, what on earth do they mean by '31 children were saved/rescued'. Presumably these were children who were being regularly abused and either children of the abusers, ones they had access to or were they even missing children? I find this chilling. One minute we're being told that the tabloids are overplaying the problem and causing hysteria and the next minute, the more rational press is full of court cases and stories. I don't know what to believe.

Another one today:

and a case tonight of a 9 year old boy possibly being snatched. Hope this is a false alarm:

Am I being totally naive about the dangers? Surely there really isn't a paedo on every corner? Sorry, not trying to panic anyone but I am normally a very easy going parent and I'm finding it more difficult not to worry.

Yes, it is my understanding that the 31 children rescued were children of the abuser or children to whom the abuser had trusted access. I think the nspcc estimate that between 75 and 90 per cent of sexually abused children are abused by family members or others who are known to them. But I think its important to remember that not every person harbouring deviant thoughts about children goes on to abuse, and there is a wide range of behaviour among paedophiles. So as a parent I try to be vigilant but not paranoid or over-anxious. Tough balance though. Critical as I sometimes am of the tabloids, i'm not sure they overplay the significance of this particular problem.

Chestnutter I am A Polic officer in Child protection and I fund the conspiracy theories put forward by people like DC bewildering.
We haven't got enough staff/ resources to deal with genuine oofenders let alone spending time 'framing' people.
Yes there are a few bad apples in the job but few and very far between.

in a way it's reassuring has a soft spot for the police too, and not just Catholic Priests.

DD - i totally agree, how strange it is that people would think the police would or could take on the burden of framing thousands of people for offences they didnt commit?

Especially when their conspiracy would have to include the CPS, judges, juries and independent prosecution experts?! Amazing and bizarre that any educated person (which DominiConnor comes across as being) could ever entertain that idea.

But on a serious note, I do worry about WHY such individuals seek to make these claims of conspiracy on behalf of paedophiles and against the police. I mean, can't you find a worthier cause to fight than defending the paedophiles you claim to hate? Suspicious, in my mind. Sorry, but it is.
