Brexit - a serious question

I have been following various radio/TV debates recently where a number of young people have been involved in discussions about Brexit and, as I already knew, most of them are extremely pro-EU. Could somebody please explain to me exactly why so many young people are passionate about remaining part of the EU?

Young people are more used to growing up alongside peers from different countries. Although of course no leave voters on MN were in any way racist or xenophobic, there were many prevailing arguments at the time of the referendum about too many Polish and Romanian people among the general public.

Young people have grown up alongside Polish and Romanian classmates so it's not an issue to them. These are their friends. Of course this may vary by region, but I've been a teacher across the South East for 15 years and can't remember teaching in any schools in that time without at least a handful of Eastern European pupils.

I don’t think the eu is perfect but why is defending their own interest ‘threats’ Viven ? It’s like getting miffed because the shopkeeper insists you pay for stuff you want.

@Viviennemary Have a think about how the British tabloids have been treating the EU for decades. The EU just stands by the principles which is infuriating for the Leavers who were told we can have a cake and eat it.

Lack of travel and study opportunities for the future. Think of getting visa to go on holiday or negotiating and paying your way through an Australian style visa to live abroad.

The well-paid job prospects and hope of getting on the house ladder have been getting thinner for the last years. These will only get worse after a hard Brexit.

Many of us are in relationships with people from the eu and feel uncertain if their right to stay in the UK will be affected.

Laws and regulations to protect citizens rights and the environment will go if they are considered to be anti-business.

My own personal opinion is that I trust the imperfect eu to protect my rights and my family's future than the government that we have now. It is lucky for some (leavers) that they share the same beliefs as the current government but do not think for one minute that they are doing what they are attempting to do for anyone other than themselves and their rich mates. This government uses the working and middle classes as cannon fodder. Brexit will make this worse.
