Just heard on The World Tonight, that the fire in the multi-storey car park in Liverpool has destroyed 1400 cars.

Human or horse, there's no loss of life recorded.

That's an extraordinary stroke of luck! Shock

Pleas for transport and accomodation for the people stranded have been made.

I use this car park when visiting the arena. Can't believe how fortunate it was that no-one was hurt.
Great response by scousers offering lifts, accommodation and everything else. Liverpool is just the best.

Yes, good news. Although it does seem to be attracting the gormless phone wavers. Lots of unpleasant fumes and risk of building collapse. Go home, dopey.

Shame about the dogs left in the cars Sad
Can't understand why if you're going to a show you'd take the dog in your car and leave them in it. Wouldn't they be more comfortable left at home?

Guessing that these people were too cheap to pay for dog day care and have had endless hassle from neighbours fed up with an abandoned dog barking. So you take it with and leave it to go nuts in the car park for hours.

I doubt they expected this but a few neighbours may have mixed feelings.

And guess what is in earshot of me?

Noisy dog?

Fortunately I have two, company for each other so it doesn't happen. Hadn't thought of that, though.

I can't understand how they knew so quickly that there was nobody hurt.

4 dogs on one car. I saw a video on a local news site of the dog owners casually scrolling back holding coffees to be reunited with their dogs.
Should have them removed.

brilliant, the fire service will be have arrived and assessed the scene. If the fire alarms were working and the fire escapes clear of smoke it is reasonable to say everyone would be able to get out safely pretty quick, they will have used equipment to check for people and probably a manual search. I wouldn't be surprised if the fire service made a decision that they weren't likely to get it under control without unnecessary risks to the fire fighters so just let it burn once they knew nobody was inside. Hence a huge fire, lots of financial loss but no injuries to the public or the fire fighters.
