Do you require more sleep than your DH/P?

And this the reson women seem to think they work more?????

Do men work more than women?

Oh yeah, okay, it's all down to women requiring more sleep...

What an insulting crock of idiocy.

My DH mentioned this study to me last weekend (just after I got home from running and he finished his mid afternoon nap).

I think we need the same amount but I am more sensible and go off to bed while dh will always stay up to watch football highlights or something.

dh goes to bed between 1-2am
& is up at 5.30am every morning to go to the gym for a workout & a swim before his commute to work.
He can survive on 3 or 4hrs

....I on the other hand need 8hrs to be civil................10hrs to be nice

So, no one else think this is a load of rubbish?

"Women still do more housework but men make up for it in the workplace"

Er, tell us something we don't know!

So it's OK for men to shirk off from doing household chores because now a study declares that men put in more hours at their place of work. Perhaps women would like to put more hours into paid employment.

Mind you, are men actually getting paid for these extra hours? If they got off the computer and went home to take on their share of the housework, men AND women would both have more leisure time.

Thank you!

Yes, how does more housework for women and more paid work for men equal things out?!?!

And they are still paid in the form of a promotion.

i think its rubbish. i can easily manage on 4hrs sleep a night, whilst dh, after having 6-8hrs will be the one yawning, and moaning he's tired all day.

Bethbe · 24/04/2007 14:15

What nonsense!

How do they define work? And does the 20 mins that a women spends feeding her baby, while simultaneously planning the logistics and packing of the coming weekend visit to the inlaws count as 20 mins or 40?

AND: I dispute the premise that Americans work harder than Europeans. I'm sure with a quick web search you could find studies showing the oposite!

To add another rant! Much of the traditional work of women is monotonous and repetative, whilst men have more innovative and 'one off' more stimulating (just think of their traditional role around the house.

Monotonous jobs are more tiring so it is not surprising if women need more sleep. I'd say this was an occupational hazzard and should therefore be made up to them!

At the end of a day, men may be stimulated and alert ready to engage in a hobby, wheras women may be bored and stressed and keen to shut down!
