Nurseries make toddlers anti-social if they go more than 3 days a week

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/6525039.stm

Now apart from play school two mornings a week my husband and I were with our mums all the time before school. We're both quite anti-social (though well behaved - though I wasn't at school - dh was). Our son on the other hand is very sociable and well behaved - and goes to full time nursery.

So what's gone wrong in our family?

Our son should be an anti-social pain in the neck - and isn't (he's 4 btw). I should have been sweetness and light - and wasn't.

I heard this on the radio, and haven't read the article. The radio was just a headline. What is classified as anti-social behaviur? My DS was fine at nursery, but has turned anti-social since starting school. My 2yo DD at nursery (but only 3 days a week so maybe doesn't count) is quite sociable.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. SAHMs, WOHMs - we're all losers!

Apparently the findings only relate to 800 children in nurseries in disadvantaged areas. Doesn't seem like a representative sample. My DS (12m) is in f-t nursery and he is extremely sociable, both with children (of all ages) and other adults. His first response to anyone is always this person will love me and he acts accordingly. I think nursery has been really good for him.

INdeed, saw this headline, skimmed the story in one paper and realised it was bollocks on the level of homeopathy, or of feminism sending you mad.
No indication of the study sample size, no indication of the source of subjects, no indication of what if any other factors controlled for... basically the work of some or other nut who thinks women are household applicances, not people. Yet again.
