I'm not sure what Daily Mail stylee outrage I should express here, but here's the link ...

OMG!!! PMSL
This has to be an april fool joke

NotQuiteCockney · 03/04/2007 21:37

It's from August. No April fool there, I'm afraid.

I misread this and thought it said 'insulting' imaginary mystic dwarves and that this was going to be a story about laws against religious hatred.

singingmum · 03/04/2007 21:41

Can't believe he thought that he'd get his job back.
Sounds like he needs a holiday in a place with paded walls and nice people with special happy pills

NotQuiteCockney · 03/04/2007 22:03

bumping because, hey, everyone needs imaginary mystic dwarves ...

It's the final paragraph that gets me...

"However, the Supreme Court said dalliance with dwarves would gradually erode the public's acceptance of the judiciary as the guardian of the law, if not make it an object of ridicule."

NotQuiteCockney · 04/04/2007 09:05

'dalliance with dwarves' certainly has a nice alliterative ring to it, doesn't it.

'The bench backed a medical finding that the judge was suffering from psychosis.'

er..y'think?!!! pmsl

except i shouldn't because the poor guy is obviously ill.

and a in secret. oh, i am going to hell.

Nbg · 04/04/2007 09:13

Poor guy for having Physcosis

but

Fecking ROFLMAO at a judge consulting 3 mystic dwarves.

"Angel, do you think he's telling the truth? Shall we let him off for murdering the postman that was doing his wife"

"Yes my master"

"Ahh right ok then, NOT GUILTY"

PMSL!

GooseyLoosey · 04/04/2007 09:15

I have to ask this, I shouldn't but I am going to. What is the difference between this and a belief in God? Granted it sounds more ridiculous but if the guy was doing his job properly, not sure that belief in 3 mystic dwarves no one else can see should qualify him for dismissal any more than belief in an omnipotent super being no one can see.

Nbg · 04/04/2007 09:17

Well in a way no it isnt any different. We all have different beliefs but if the poor fella is suffering from Physcosis and the mystic dwarves were interfering with his job then its a different matter alltogether.

NotQuiteCockney · 04/04/2007 09:20

There's no real difference. If a judge said 'I ruled this way because God told me to', he'd be considered mad, and unfit to do the job. But mostly, people who believe in God come up with better reasons for their decisions. Certainly judges are expected to have better reasons than god/a dwarf/a fairy/my dog told me to.

agree, if it was affecting his ability to do his job, but its not entirely clear from this article that it was - they helped him carry out healing sessions during his breaks. There is no suggestion that he was guilty of any judicial impropriety just that he would make the judiciary a subject of ridicule. If he said that he engaged in the resorative powers of prayer during his breaks and prayed for guidance that he reached the right judgement everyone would be fine with that. Just not sure that belief in 3 dawrves is anymore phsycotic that belief in anything else.

NotQuiteCockney · 04/04/2007 09:32

Hmm, I think making public statements like: "From obscurity, my name and the three mystic dwarves became immortal." indicates a certain lack of propriety, at the minimum.

Seriously, if he's changing robe colour during the week to recharge his psych(ot)ic powers, he's probably telling people what he's up to, at which point it becomes hard for people to take his judgements seriously.

I feel really sorry for him. It takes a lot for a judge to lose his job, he must be totally humiliated.

TheArmadillo · 04/04/2007 19:18

but it did interfere with his job.

IT seems he was being investigated anyway for incompetence and bias. And the mystic dwarves thing was what he told them during the investigation.

I kinda agree on the beliefs point that if you accept that descisions are being influenced by another power, then if you accept it for God, you have to accept it for all. Though I have heard many comments on George Bush who claims to be directly speaking to God that this shouldn't be acceptable and is a sign of madness.

Personally I believe in God, but can see how those who don't would see the things as similar.
