mumof2monsters · 17/06/2007 09:35

TaylorsMummy · 17/06/2007 10:04

2shoes · 17/06/2007 12:18

heard on the radio news that there is some confusion over his release

jellycat · 17/06/2007 15:38

They said on Friday that he would be released within 24 hours. Hope they can achieve it this time.

jellycat · 17/06/2007 19:39

The latest BBC report says the kidnappers deny any sort of deal and are holding out for their demands to be met, otherwise they may still kill him. Here

TaylorsMummy · 17/06/2007 20:19

TaylorsMummy · 19/06/2007 12:45

it doesn't make sense it makes me wonder why anyone does these kind of jobs.

remember poor margaret hassan.she devoted her life to helping the iraqi people and look what they did to her

Wednesday 20 June will mark 100 days since Alan Johnston was kidnapped in Gaza. At 14:15 BST tomorrow, Alan's parents will release 100 balloons in their home village in Scotland - at the same time, Alan's colleagues across the BBC will show their support for him, his friends and his family. At 14:15 BST, I'd encourage to you to pause, wherever you are, to think of Alan. The BBC Trust, led by the Chairman, Sir Michael Lyons, is planning to break from its meeting to take part in an event at Broadcasting House. Colleagues on the Eastenders' set, at Glastonbury and in newsrooms across Britain and around the world are also planning to participate.

poor man. just read that they have released a video of Alan wearing an orange jacket and a suicide bomb belt

yackyack1 · 26/06/2007 00:00

I sometimes wonder in these instances whether it's doing the hostage more harm than good by promoting the story in such a way that it becomes front page news with campaigns and such stuff. I mean, look at what happened to Ken Bigley after the media gave 24/7 coverage, it seemed to hype up the terrorists.

In comparison, some hostages are released following little or no coverage. Just IMO, although I know it's not as easy as all this and his family and colleagues obviously feel the need to do as much as possible.

We can only Alan Johnson's released unharmed.

hippipotami · 26/06/2007 08:08

The video on the news yesterday of him wearing a strap-on bomb was so haunting. I really really really hope he is released soon. He and his family must be going through hell

TaylorsMummy · 27/06/2007 10:56

in the paper today it says an email has been sent threatening to slaughter Alan like a sheep.this is awful.so sad.

jellycat · 02/07/2007 17:48

Hamas have made some arrests apparently news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/6260970.stm. I hope this is good news, can't help worrying it might end badly .
