The Sainted Jeremy was asked specifically if he condemned that is happening in Venezuela a country he and other Labour figures have praised extensively in the past.

He refused to actually condemn the government (something which has been done by all the neighboring states) and said instead "“What I condemn is the violence that’s been done by any side and all sides in this.”

This is what the government of Venezuela is doing right now. The government Corbyn refused to condemn. Judge for yourself if Jeremy was right not to condemn them. (Warning contains graphic footage of murder)

Verified by Humans Rights watch.

Contrast that to the bile he has towards Israel. IMHO Jez is happy to see war (Ukraine, Syria, Georgia, Sierra Leone, Kosovo et al), terrorism (Israel), or political violence and dictatorship (Cuba & Venezuela) as long as they people are anti the west & good socialists.

The man is sick.

Vent over.

Nah, condemning violence from all sides is still condemning violence from all sides.

OK, now answer the question, why wont he condemn the government of Venezuela?

Re ” Theassauras. The Palestinians have elected moderate parties in the past there have been talks, talks about talks, peace processes etc etc going back as long as I can remember. ( about half a century).”

Well whenever questioned about his ‘support’ for any anti West or revolutionary cause, Mr Corbyn (rather defensively) says that all he wants to encourage, is the talking, as he has just said about both sides in Venezuela

Re ” Israel will always do exactly as it wants with the backing of the US. It's an unequal situation and fuels much of the tension in the Middle East.”

The U.S. used to be the whipping boy in the Middle East as probably correctly, they were both politically and economically worried about the regimes there ensuring the continuity of oil flowing out of the Gulf wasn’t broken, causing the recessions they used to when interrupted and the Western economies (then more reliant on heavy manufacturing) – saw high priced oil raising costs/inflation.

But as mentioned above, nowadays with a U.S. now a net exporter of oil and gas, that power balance (read interference) over Middle East matters has shifted to Russia and Iran with economies now mainly reliant on the (higher) prices of oil and gas.

And look who is now turning up in Venezuela to both support yet another dodgy regime and increase further their control of carbon energy reserves, via an alliance of dodgy regimes.

“Vladimir's Venezuela; Leveraging loans to Caracas, Moscow snaps up oil assets”

“Venezuela’s unravelling socialist government is increasingly turning to ally Russia for the cash and credit it needs to survive – and offering prized state-owned oil assets in return, sources familiar with the negotiations told Reuters.”

“As Caracas struggles to contain an economic meltdown and violent street protests, Moscow is using its position as Venezuela’s lender of last resort to gain more control over the OPEC nation’s crude reserves, the largest in the world.”

Re "Hamas had a stronger voice so in the end they came into power. Much as Sein Fein"

With respect, no one can really say that either Hamas or Sinn Feins military wing were known for their 'voices', which is why the Corbyn/McDonnell connections raised security concerns here.

And these interconnecting Corbyn international 'relationships' keep popping up;

In the absence of internationally recognised independent observers since 2006, President Maduro keen to show the recent election was NOT dodgy, invited another ‘delegation’ of observers, including the Sinn Féin MP for Newry & Armagh, as one of those unbiased observers.

And funny old world the man from Sinn Fein duly declared the Venezuelan election “fair and equitable”.

So if one side is using machine guns with live ammunition whilst the other is throwing stones, you think condemning violence from all sides is a neutral response?
*
If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.*

These two posts from earlier in the thread are the crux of it imo.

Jeremy Corbyn is a lying, conniving, duplicitous snake.
Thank fuck he lost the GE.

Nope, this is all just a desperate attempt to distract people from the dangerously incompetent and unethical current UK government. I'm happy most people ignore it and concentrate on bringing may and her accomplices to account and hopefully make them change at least some of their most destructive policies and strategies. You can rant and rave about corbyn as much as you want as long as you don't just standby and let the actual pm get away with bringing this country to its knees.

OK, now answer the question, why wont he condemn the government of Venezuela?
Fresh I would very much like to know the answer to this.

Fresh8008 · 14/08/2017 16:39

Just watched Corbyn condemn the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville but he then went on to say its was nothing like the violence by the Venezuelan government where only some calm communication was needed.

So all violence is equal but some violence is more equal that others?

Lenl · 14/08/2017 18:38

Also so when violence is instigated by the goverment on the people it's just because the bloody populace won't speak calmly Wink

TheaSaurass · 15/08/2017 15:59

I suppose Labour are consistent on government vs population, as during the Arab Spring and the Syrian Sunni Muslim's, downtrodden for decades under a Syrian dictator and his son - religiously representing around 18% of their population then went to the streets demanding better treatment - the government used tanks and all sorts to put them down.

Long before most of those Sunnis become radicalised, the government here under Cameron wanted to stop the the bombing and artillery of Syrian citizens by their government by taking out their hardware, but Labour stopped them in parliament - and the rest is history.

Looking at Iraq and Syria, we can be damned if we do, damned if we don't help, but we can never condone governments attacking their own citizens, by SITTING BACK and pretending 'talking' will somehow fix the conditions/politics that the citizens are rising up against.

Venezuela is oil reserves rich, a far left government over many years has failed the people to starvation, so how can they sit back when that government wants to stay put, no matter what?
