Just read this on the beeb and im actually so annoyed.

A woman died and the headline is that Prince William flew the air ambulance? Who the bloody hell cares about that. A PERSON LOST THEIR LIFE.

So bloody inappropriate.

That poor woman and her family Flowers

There's an official email to contact the BBC with complaints: [email protected]

I did a while back when I read the headline 'Wife of climber dies on mountain' (or something along those lines - can't find the email now) and when I clicked on the article the 'wife' was a bloody climber too. Their response was infuriatingly dismissive and along the lines of 'we can't fit everything relevant in a headline' completely missing the point.

Both articles mentioned are awfully written. How sad for those poor ladies and their families.

Found it:

Full Complaint: The headline 'Climber's shock at wife's Everest death' is then followed by 'The husband of an Australian mountaineer who died...'. How is it acceptable that in your headline the deceased mountaineer is reduced to nothing more than the wife of a climber? Sexist, lazy and very disappointing. It would have been sufficient to mention the fact that they were a husband and wife team as an aside in the main story.

Found the beebs complaint page. Hmm we shall see what comes of it. I manage not to swear in it. Just disgraceful reporting

My husband is a scientist and does research in health related subjects. When his (pretty amazing) work is covered by the press it is usually like this:" Scientist (no mention of his name) finds out this amazing thing, that will help many people. And now a 3 page interview with Mrs Smith who suffers from this condition that his discovery will help improve". Newspapers just love to talk down to their readers.

lovemelovemyboys · 03/08/2017 13:03

It's only because prince handed in his notice and it was his final flight

diten · 03/08/2017 15:42

Yep - maybe should have been two separate articles.

cdtaylornats · 03/08/2017 20:17

The article was about the princes last flight. If it hadn't mentioned the outcome for the patient then people would have complained.
