British Gymnastics failed to suspend coach for ‘emotional and physical abuse’

A second article in as many days about emotional and physical abuse in gymnastics. Sadly it rings very true to me as I have seen and even tried to report many things which seem to be accepted by many while others are too scared to complain. It is so terrible as gymnastics is a sport where the children do long, intense hours at a very young age.
Is it unreasonable for us to expect that the same standards that are to keep our children safe at school should apply to such activities?

No, it is not unreasonable. Unfortunately, many of those who support the sport are all "No pain, no gain" and they seem especially ok with it when it is someone else's pain and their gain.

The standards expected are the same. It is up to the parents to complain and do something about it using the laws we have. If it's not acceptable in school, it's not in a sports club. It makes me wonder why on earth parents put up with it.

We do now have a win at all costs mentality in this country. We love Gold Medals and hand out gongs to all the athletes who succeed. There are now more coaches in sport to achieve our goals and some will not be good enough and flout rules. Just look at cycling. They need to be rooted out and removed.
