Thoughts and prayers are with the little girls family! What an awful accident Flowers

And that is what is was, an accident. Not the teachers' fault, not the park's fault, just an awful, tragic accident!

RIP little girl! Flowers

The teacher will feel bad enough as it is without people pointing the finger in their direction.

sailorcherries · 10/05/2017 12:02

muckypup the mother wasn't blaming the ride or park at all, merely stating that it is possible to fall in to the water if children move from their seats. She was grateful that nothing had happened to her child (obviously) but was attempting to show that it was an accident and the poor girl shouldn't be held responsible because, as she said, children are excited and it is easily done (I think it also highlights how an adult in the boat, the child's own parent, couldn't forsee or stop it happening).

At least that's how it read to me, I didn't mean that anyone was assigning any blame.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 10/05/2017 12:02

So sorry for your loss nice.

MyheartbelongstoG · 10/05/2017 12:02

Nicemil, so sorry for your loss x

muckypup73 · 10/05/2017 12:04

sailorcherries, how it read to me was that she was blaimign the ride and the park as she said she wouldnt be going back, why not teach your child to not stand up? if they tried standing up on some roller coasters they could end up being decapitated xx

muckypup73 · 10/05/2017 12:05

I also am sorry for your loss Nicemil, it must be hard listening to people talk this this, especially in this day and age where people can comment. xx

Topas0117 · 10/05/2017 12:06

Sorry to hear about your loss Nicemil1 Flowers No one should lose a child!

SumThucker · 10/05/2017 12:08

I didn't think Nicemil meant her daughter? Absolute full apologies for appearing crass if so, I wouldn't wish to upset anyone.

TheExuberant1 · 10/05/2017 12:17

I feel for everyone involved, a tragic thing to happen and every parents worst nightmare. Totally devastating.

Nicemil1 · 10/05/2017 12:25

Thanks guys thankfully dd survived, her injuries her teacher was killed.

I just think this is in bad taste as it's pure speculation.

sum I apologise to you as it's so raw to me it's hard not up fire up.

MissBax · 10/05/2017 12:31

nice that must have been awful for your daughter. But to say DD was involved in fatal accident is a bit misleading...

Oblomov17 · 10/05/2017 12:33

Accident? Was it really an accident? There will be an investigation. Risk assessments will be reviewed. These days they always like to find someone culpable.

SumThucker · 10/05/2017 12:38

I can understand why it is raw for you then, Nice Flowers

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 10/05/2017 12:39

Jesus Christ ye are vultures.. this thread is in horrific taste. You absolute ass holes. Have some respect.

grannytomine · 10/05/2017 12:43

MissBax, why is it misleading? A teacher died and Nice's daughter was injured. It was a fatal accident.

Topas0117 · 10/05/2017 12:44

If this thread is so horrific then why comment and contribute to its content? Just scroll and ignore!

I really don't think the op has started this in bad taste. I feel very sorry for the teacher's and the park. If what has been reported is true then the little girl stood up to move seats. No one else is to blame. Maybe more emphasis needs to be made to children to stay seated. Maybe an adult should have to ride with them. It's absolutely tragic that this has happened and my heart goes out to her family but I think it is important to discuss these issues to stop it happening in the future. There was a big roller coaster crash only last year.

granny - it's evidently misleading as several people thought she meant her DD was fatally injured.

muckypup73 · 10/05/2017 12:51

Yukbuck, can you imagine being that teacher? and how they are feeling? I dread to think.

KatherineMumsnet · 10/05/2017 12:55

Hi all,

As we do allow folks to talk about subjects that are reported in the wider media (though we do ask that speculation is avoided for open cases); we are going to move this over to our 'in the news' topic. (We do also allow more than one thread on a subject).

We think the OP means well here and we see this OP post as being chiefly supportive - it's just in the wrong place, perhaps.

SparklyMagpie · 10/05/2017 12:55

Really really poor taste

Heart goes out to everyone involved and the poor girls family Sad absolutely heartbreaking, I just can't even begin to imagine

TooFew · 10/05/2017 13:03

Flipping heck...it was just posted in the wrong place for gods sake theres no need for such martyrdom!! The OP was just pointing out it was a horrible accident and noone was to blame...that doesn't make it any less tragic does it.

muckypup73 · 10/05/2017 13:04

SparklyMagpie, why is it in poor taste? its in the news, people do discuss the news, and it is heartbreaking and none of us would like it to happen to our children, but people will talk about, whever on here, on the newpaper commenting sections, out on the street, at school wherever people will talk about it.
