I bet he enjoyed some of the abuse cases he worked on. He won't go to jail though.

It makes you wonder just who you can trust, doesn't it

bundle · 17/06/2004 10:01

he apparently presided over a paedophile case where the defendent was acquitted too.

JustMum · 17/06/2004 10:02

There's talk of such cases being reviewed because of his conviction, which is probably the right thing to do.

Bundle - said on the news the other day that he presided over a few abuse cases and the sentances or punishments were always a bit low!!

NomDePlume · 17/06/2004 10:06

I know that if my children were involved in one of his cases (as a judge), I'd be straight onto the relevant authorities for a review/retrial.

Bunglie · 17/06/2004 18:50

From what I have been finding out lately I am not at all surprised. I bet there is a wonderful cover-up of all the cases he presided over and there will be no re-dress for any of the victims. Judges seems to be above the law. I bet he is going to an 'open' prison' where it will be like a 5* hotel!
I am so very sorry but today I am feeling really cynical when it comes to justice.
It is one rule for people like me and another for the.
Sorry but I am feeling a bit disgusted by the whole thing, and I feel for all the parents and children involved, but he is a 'Judge' I wish I had an 'old boys tie' or a funny handshake
Someone please say something positive and restore my faith in british justice (SofiaAmes, don't tell me to vote Tory ) Twinkie got any more jokes, any about Judges!

Bunglie - you wanted a judge joke (not up to Twinkie's standards I'm afraid).....

A prosecuting barrister called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman, to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?"

She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy. And frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a rising big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you."

The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Williams, do you know the defense barrister?"

She again replied, "Why, yes I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. I used to baby-sit him for his parents. And he, too, has been a real disappointment to me. He's lazy, bigoted, he has a drinking problem. The man can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the shoddiest in the entire country. Yes, I know him."

At this point, the judge rapped the courtroom to silence and called both men to the bench. In a very quiet voice, he said with menace, "If either of you asks her if she knows me, you'll be jailed for contempt!"
