Why am I not surprised? I bloody hate BA, they are crap!

charliecat · 08/02/2007 11:37

I just thought the fact that they werent going to tell custumers who were booking flights. Totally crap IMO.

Absolutely - I am travelling with them a week on Saturday so thanks for the information - will try and get everything in to one suitcase now. Unfortuately I don't have much choice of airline as they really do p* me off!!

foxtrot · 08/02/2007 11:45

That is outrageous - easyjet only charge a fiver for an extra bag

purplemonkeydishwasher · 08/02/2007 11:47

i hate those guys

LizP · 08/02/2007 11:48

But doesn't it always say on the ticket the number of bags you are allowed ? I know we are flying BA tomorrow and it clearly states how many bags we are allowed. Think people are just used to ignoring it and now they are enforcing it in a pretty brutal manner to make people comply. Although I do think not tell people when booking is poor.

charliecat · 08/02/2007 11:48

I thought it was weight previously?

You might as well fly low cost if they start doing this... What happened to "The World's Favourite Airline"?

Maybe this is Willie Walsh's fault. He turned Aer Lingus to low-cost, after all...

dassie · 08/02/2007 11:48

It has been on their website for weeks

McDreamy · 08/02/2007 11:50

No I've just checked and I have a weight limit no mention of number of bags on my ticket for next Saturday and now it seems they have changed the terms and conditions - there's probably a clause somewhere that says they can do this

Azure · 08/02/2007 11:50

That seems outrageous. What about taking a pushchair and car seat (last time we took two)? Do they count as bags?

McDreamy · 08/02/2007 11:51

No that's one thing positive I will say for them they never count my pushchairs and car seats in my allowance - but then neither has any other airline.

twelveyeargap · 08/02/2007 11:56

It's currently one bag on domestic flights, unlimited on European and 2 bags on Americas flights (3 in business or first), up to the allowed weight.

It's pretty crap.

Infants will be allowed to check one bag, plus a collapsible baby buggy and a car seat, into the aircraft hold free of charge in all classes on all routes.

RichardGereVGoodWithGuineaPigs · 08/02/2007 12:00

They are making Ryanair look generous.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/02/2007 12:48

Beardy will be rubbing his hands with glee due to all the business that will head his way.

pootlepod · 08/02/2007 12:52

Goodness.

It is far easier to carry 2 medium suitcases in airports etc than 1 huge thing. Also, it means your clothes are spread betwen 2 bags if 1 goes missing. Think the charge is extortionate.

paulaplumpbottom · 08/02/2007 12:54

They'll lose business from families.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 09/02/2007 10:20

TBH I'm surprised that no-one has done this before now.

Loathe as I am to defend BA it has been quoted that to give pax time to get used to the changes, the 32kg weight limit will remain in place until 30th Septmeber.

It very much depends where you are flying to as well, for instance if you were going to Australia the weight allowance is lower (i.e 23kg) than if you were going to the USA (which is still 32kg).
