Two words for Boris Johnson

No, not the obvious ones.
Michael Heseltine.
Also succeeded in unseating his leader through spectacular disloyalty; found afterwards his colleagues would not hold their noses and vote for him, and failed in his ambition to become PM. Deservedly.
I have voted Tory at the last three elections. I will not do so again with that man in charge. Labour needs to get its shit together, chuck Corbyn out, get someone solid (Sadiq Khan?) and press for an immediate election. I think they'd find a lot of disgusted Tory Remainers moving in to their camp.

I'm not a Corbyn supporter - I like his politics but he is not a PM material - but he is coming in for unnecessary flack here. His ambivalent stance towards the EU is probably more representative of the nation as a whole than that of "strong remainers" like Gordon Brown for example (and I'm not slagging off GB here as I'm one of the few in MN who will admit to having a lot of time for him).

Two thirds of Labour voters voted along party lines in the referendum (versus one third of Tories), so the idea that this is all Corbyn's fault is somewhat at odds with the facts. But if this referendum has taught us anything it's that media messages like "it's all Corbyn's fault" are much more powerful than actual facts.

Mookbark · 25/06/2016 09:57

Misti why let the facts get in the way of a good story?

Mistigri · 25/06/2016 10:09

mook these days people prefer a bad story to a good fact.

I'm not supporting Corbyn (I wish he'd stand down, though I'm not sure who would replace him) but how can he take the flack for this? He "delivered" two thirds of his voters, despite a uniformly hostile media and a population seemingly incapable of listening to nuanced messages.

AllThePrettySeahorses · 25/06/2016 10:10

Quite, Misti.

I am not even a current Labour voter, although I joined the party specifically to vote for Burnham because I saw in him an excellent PM and this may still be the case in the future. I am certainly no Corbynista either. I have seen him a few times at his public rallies, however, and I would certainly assert that he is very charismatic and a very good speaker who is passionate and knowledgeable about his subjects - far more so than Cameron, for example - and this leadership ability is not reported by the mainstream media.

Wild horses couldn't drag me to vote Tory.

Two words for Boris Johnson

BORIS JOHNSON is supported by England´s underclass to leave the EU because they´re rascist and hate immigrants. Boris Johnson´s grandfather was a muslim Turk called Osman Kemal. Huh?

cliffcarrot · 27/06/2016 20:03

So surely the English rascists must think BORIS JOHNSON is just a fat Turk?

PurpleTango · 28/06/2016 01:43

Tom Watson would definitely be a better choice than the downtrodden Corbyn. I hope the Tories come up with an alternative to BoJo soon - If Theresa May is the best they can come up with they have lost the next election for sure. Come back Cameron all is forgiven

The new Nazis - Farage(Hitler)Johnson(Goering)Duncan Smith(Himmler)Gove(Goebbels). Scary bunch. And so are their Fascist followers. I´m 100% white English, liberal and tolerant, living in a town with many fascist scum. I´m thinking to get a gun!
