How upset would you be if you were his kids? I suppose at his level of wealth the money isn't that important but just to have your old dad made a fool of in front of the world must be galling

All very very sad. See they make no mention of the really important issue - the custody for their daughter and how they are going to work as a team to bring her up surrounded by love and a sense of stability. I know they don?t have to talk about that in the papers, just dearly hope that they have come to a sensible conclusion for her. Doesn?t matter how much cash your folks have, still must be terrible for the child stuck in the middle

paulaplumpbottom · 21/01/2007 12:12

I agree, its there little girl I feel sorry for.

southeastastra · 21/01/2007 12:13

oh FGS she got 2% of his estimated fortune

why shouldn't she?

they have a child

and she's entitled

despite the media massacre

(she may not be a nice person I don't know .. but I don't believe the crap in the papers either)

Twiglett · 21/01/2007 12:23

we DO NOT KNOW the details of the settlement .. this is media speculation ..

we DO NOT KNOW their custody arrangements either

and why the hell should we

its a marriage breakdwon and divorce .. it should be private

VioletBaudelaire · 21/01/2007 12:27

I am not a fan of either Paul McCartney or Heather Mills, so I'm shocked by the way she has been villfied and he has practically been sainted in all this.
I think it certainly shows the power of employing the right PR staff.
What if her claims of abuse are true? Does it make them less dreadful because she's been known to exaggerate in the past, and because she's a bit stroppy?
I hope they come to an amicable arrangement which makes their daughter feel loved and secure.

southeastastra · 21/01/2007 12:31

2% how much money has he got then!!

£32m way too much for 4 years.

Twiglett · 21/01/2007 13:04

estimated fortune of £1.5 billion according to a quick google search

NotQuiteCockney · 21/01/2007 13:34

She can hardly lead a normal life, now, after all she's been through, can she. She'd probably have outraged Daily Mail readers throwing tomatoes at her, down the supermarket.

I don't know why she's so hated. People get more money for doing less (e.g. lottery winners) and aren't considered scum fo rit.

southeastastra · 21/01/2007 13:51

£32m!! any old rock stars around want a wife?

turquoise · 21/01/2007 13:54

I don't think she's scum, don't really have an opinion on her either way other than that I'd want more than £1000 an hour to shag him.

It is so wonderful to read about the likes of Billie Piper though, or Mia Farrow who I just read in article came out of her marriage to Frank Sinatra with "a music box, an encyclopiedia, and the respect of her husband". Although on reflection, she could have come out with a pair of concrete boots, so maybe that's not such a great example.

I think what I'm trying to say, witteringly, is that Heather might have her £32 million but Billie Piper and her ilk have something priceless.

turquoise · 21/01/2007 13:55

Encyclopedia.

NotQuiteCockney · 21/01/2007 19:57

Sure, it's nicer to not leave with money, but both those women a) had careers of their own and b) had no kids with the men they were divorcing, right?

turquoise · 21/01/2007 20:07

Fair point. Well, the children part at least. As to the career - I don't see why that should be an issue if the relationship has been fairly short as in Mc/Mills' case - obviously if a woman has given up years of her life for husband and family she deserves half his earnings during that time.

I just can't stand the gold-digging, screw them for every penny attitude.

Clarinet60 · 22/01/2007 11:06

I'm with Twiglett

Blu · 22/01/2007 12:03

And there was me thinking that when you married you made vows to say something about 'all my worldly goods'. If he promised that, he promised that - like any other person who chooses to get married.

But I agree with Twiglett.
