I can't get my head round it !

Teaplease they may have been recognised by the police because there was cctv from the beginning (that's how they were traced) and the officers would have had the images circulated. Of course they may have had names already put to the faces if they were known, but not definitely.
I think if these were 2 boys some of the posts here would be quite different. It might not be suggested that there was someone pulling their strings or surprise expressed that they both took part equally, there are massive Paedophile rings as we know, it surely isn't that unusual for 2 likeminded people (however sick the likemindness) to find and latch on to each other.

I don't think you need to have experienced sexual abuse at a young age to be aware of child rape. I really disagree with that view. More so with internet but even before kids knew.

I too thought of Bulger. I think they need to be put in a youth prison with intensive therapy.

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 07/06/2016 23:34

I think the why might be indicated by what they had been googling. Like others the Jamie Bulger case came to mind. Thirteen and fourteen year olds are not little children with no idea what they are doing. Let's hope they are tried appropriately.

Aeroflotgirl · 08/06/2016 08:40

It sound eerily like the James Bulger murders, and I would not put it it past them, that they wanted to harm this little girl, the worrying stuff they were googling is very relivent and should not be put aside.

Janefromdowntheroad · 08/06/2016 08:44

Babies aren't born evil. I'd suggest something has happened to them for them to end up like this. Prison with intense therapy would be my suggestion.

I'd also guess that just like the Bulger case one of them was the main driving force with a 'weaker' girl following along.

Wishfulmakeupping · 08/06/2016 08:48

Terrible and I immediately thought of James Bulger too :(
These girls are sisters so god know what they're home life is like to end up like this. I completely agree about this feeling like a weaker charge now it seems they had the evidence to show the intent was there to commit sexual abuse so why it's been dropped I can't understand.

Sunnsoo · 08/06/2016 12:24

I too think that an adult had made them do it.

I live locally to this, and there is zero sympathy for the girls. Their pictures are all over Facebook. There's no way they can move back there, for their own good.

PenguinWatch · 08/06/2016 16:02

I read somewhere (possibly Metro?) that one of the searches included specific reference to sexuality of African girls/women and both the child they abducted and one they tried to abduct earlier in the day were black. The fact that this information has been released indicates to me that the Court considers their motives were incredibly sinister.

PenguinWatch · 08/06/2016 16:04

Wishful the judge has asked for an urgent review of all the searches they carried out. I think he/she will take this into account on sentencing, regardless of the fact the CPS has dropped the charge.

AugustaFinkNottle · 08/06/2016 16:28

sidsgranny, would you care to explain what is so wrong about doing good.

And I'm sorry, there is no such thing as a purely evil child. It's far too simplistic and easy to jump to that conclusion, because it means we can just lock up children and throw away the key and not worry too much about finding whichever bastards caused them to be that way.

One of the reports said these two had never been arrested or interviewed, yet as soon as the facts of what had happened and a description had been circulated, police officers knew who they were likely to be. That does rather suggest that they may have been known to the police more as victims or potential victims, or as children who were circulating in potentially very bad company. If they were purely evil then they would have been involved directly with the police well before now.

BillSykesDog · 08/06/2016 18:24

I wonder if an adult is somewhere in the background, grooming and manipulating these girls.

I've wondered this too. I've heard quite a bit recently about how paedophiles, instead of downloading images, are actually paying for the abuse of a child to be live streamed to them so they can actually instruct what is to be done to them. Leaves less trace and likelihood of being caught is less.

I wonder if these girls had someone online encouraging them to do this?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 08/06/2016 18:31

Babies aren't born evil.

Most 14 year olds would be horrified at the thought of doing this which suggests they have had a very troubled back ground and are quite possibly being manipulated by an adult some where in the back ground. I feel as sorry for them as I do the parents of the child who they took.

imwithspud · 08/06/2016 19:03

I don't believe everyone who does awful things has a reason such as abuse/bad upbringing, but I don't believe babies are born evil either. Hard to explain but some people really are just bad people, like a switch went off in their heads at one point.

Not sure what the case is with these girls. Difficult to say as we don't know the ins and outs of their lives.

Agadooo · 08/06/2016 19:11

A 13 and a 14 year old girl-unbelievable-lots of bad things happen to people but they don't then go on to kidnap a 2 year old and take them 3 miles away and Google such disgusting phrases-no sympathy from me-that poor mother-what worry she must have gone through-missing for almost 2 hrs-I cant imagine.
