Anyone been following this here ?

This county's indigenous people?!

The man needs to learn about this country's history before he spouts clap-trap.

LittleSarah · 15/01/2007 12:28

I know, I mean what indigenous people?

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 12:30

It never ceases to amaze me how vile people can really be. To think that a mixed race child is some how not as good as the rest makes me blindingly angry. I wish there was a way to get the likes of him to stop reproducing.

Caligula · 15/01/2007 13:24

Hmm. I wonder who he means by the indigenous population. No-one has done quite so much damage to the cultural identity of the "indigenous" people of this island, than the English. Who speaks Cornish nowadays? Highland clearances anyone? The Welsh occupation? And that's only if you accept those Celtic Johnny come Latelys as indigenous - I'm sure the ancient Britons didn't welcome them, or the Anglo-Saxons who came after, and as for the Normans...

To say nothing of the working class cultures based around certain industries, which were destroyed in the latter decades of the twentieth century. And the peasant cultures which were destroyed by the industrial revolution... I won't go on...

Is it BNP policy to bring any of these "indigenous" cultures back?

The man sounds such a poltroon. And how surprising that this ballerina either doesn't know or doesn't care that he talks about her child in that way. She doesn't sound very informed, so I guess she doesn't know.

speedymama · 15/01/2007 14:23

I like that word poltroon - I've added it to my book of new words.

It does make one wonder how uninformed people are in general about the UK's history as well as the origin and de facto, the identity of its people.

In a way, I'm glad all of this has happened because I did not know that the BNP reviled non-white mixed race people for the reasons given (I just thought they hated non-whites in general). If this whole episode exposes their true beliefs and agenda, then hopefully, those who support them because of their constant attack on immigrantion and migration (I'm assuming they understand the difference), will stop viewing them through rose tinted spectacles.

speedymama · 15/01/2007 14:24

immigration doh

ruty · 15/01/2007 14:26

'It does make one wonder how uninformed people are in general about the UK's history as well as the origin and de facto, the identity of its people'.

I don't think they have a clue speedymama. Perhaps they should introduce the history of immigration in the British Isles as a compulsory topic in history at school.

calebsmum · 15/01/2007 14:26

She was just very misinformed, really didn't understood what the BNP stood for and neither did her partner. There was a article in a paper not so long ago about an asian family voting BNP because of the immigration situation, lots of people just don't understand what the BNP are about. Her partner Yat Sen Chang is cuban but of chinese descent, doubt her daughter will be too confused as she hardly see's her, she's been brought up by her grandparents from a few weeks old, only see's parents every other month.

And no not all dancers are starved of food or white middle class

speedymama · 15/01/2007 14:41

Dare I say it, why did they have a child?

lionheart · 15/01/2007 14:43

I wonder what she thinks about it all now.

Blu · 15/01/2007 14:49

The BNP are always claiming to be non-racist and saying it is nothing to do with race, and dreaming up other 'reasons' on a regular basis. But they always give themselves away, like Barnbrook did.

Bizarrely, they do have some non-white members. A Sikh of Indian heritage (but he was, of course, English) used to write a column in their paper. Having joined to keep out Hindus, I presume.

This is how the BNP define indigenous:

"We use the term indigenous to describe the people whose ancestors were the earliest settlers here after the last great Ice Age and which have been complemented by the historic migrations from mainland Europe. The migrations of the Celts, Anglo-Saxons, Danes, Norse and closely related kindred peoples have been, over the past few thousands years, instrumental in defining the character of our family of nations."

There is very little on the website that could be construed as actively racist against non-white people (actually, I could find nothing - but wasn't very thorough in looking) but lots about patriotism for culture, homeland, history etc. Plenty that is offensive, Asylum Seekers are called 'invaders', for e.g, and lots, that if it came without the rest, would have MN-ers nodding - quality before quantity in agriculture, for e.g. Thay thrive on this 'respectable' front...silly Ms Clarke has obviusly falen for it and will hopefully be feeling the heat now.

Caligula · 15/01/2007 14:52

I noticed they've left out the Normans.

Bit of an oversight...

Blu · 15/01/2007 15:07

Normans not blonde enough.

Blu · 15/01/2007 15:09

And too recent.
And French Speaking.
And pulling dirty tricks on the poor Anglo-Saxon Army at Hastings.

Marina · 15/01/2007 15:18

But blu, Normans are quite blonde...noticeably more so than the rest of our beloved neighbours IME . Although all the ones I know would not care to be associated with the BNP however loosely.

Blu · 15/01/2007 15:20

The NF are far more rabid in the way they present themselves, declaring on their home page that they favour an all-white Britain and advocating repatriation of all non-whites within 15 years.

The BNP are perhaps potentially more dangerous as they lull dim types like Ms Clarke with an agenda which seems rather cosier than the Daily Mail, on first reading, with it's celtic graphics and subliminal background humming of 'Jerusalem'.

Blu · 15/01/2007 15:22

Are they? Oh, I thought Normans had dashing dark hair. But then again I am taking my references from a mixture of the Asterix cartoons and Gauloise adverts.

Marina · 15/01/2007 15:22

I live in a part of London where they have traditionally operated from their "bookshop" used to be just down the road and I could not agree more that they are much more dangerous than the NF . I really do worry about the BNP although they have never managed to win any seats locally, thank goodness.
We had their "literature" through the door though and I was gutted not to have had a chance to discuss my views with the candidate in person.

Marina · 15/01/2007 15:25

No, IME they are fairly pallid and blonde like your bog-standard white English person across the Channel, bless them. Better groomed of course. The only really dashing person I met in Caen was from Montpellier and hated the place and her very Norman in-laws but that was a whole different kettle of poissons

ruty · 15/01/2007 15:26

LOL Blu.
As for Jerusalam, bet William Blake turns in his grave every time he hears that hymn [metaphorically speaking.]

speedymama · 15/01/2007 15:27

Marina, I assume that is Welling, not far from Eltham where Stephen Lawrence was murdered? DH has a Chinese friend and he avoids going to Welling

frannyislurking · 15/01/2007 15:28

I think she is s stupid stupid person. Naive is too kind a description.

Blu · 15/01/2007 15:29

Oh, ok then.

Back to the BNP. The expose in the Guardian had uncovered that winning elections is not necessarily their primary objective, but that positioning themselves to pounce and take over in the event of a financial collapse, is! Which , of course, makes a financial crisis an attractive proposition tto them once they feel they have adequate strength and support. So I would very much be keeping my eye on theri (legal) membership lists if I were the gvt!

Marina · 15/01/2007 15:30

speedymama, yes. It is.
Not a welcoming part of London.

speedymama · 15/01/2007 15:31

Blu, I wonder if they are basing their tactics on that used by Hitler?
