27 marathons in 27 days.

I can't work out if he's brilliant or bonkers! What an incredible achievement, and he's raised £1.35m for Sports Relief.

I hope he's recognised in the next honours. What a guy.

He's amazing, wonderful, clever, phenomenal! I love him.

P1nkP0ppy · 21/03/2016 20:19

Incredible achievement and an amazing guy. He's bonkers of course!

ocelot41 · 21/03/2016 20:19

I luffs Eddie. Seriously. Good bloke.

80sMum · 21/03/2016 20:22

I have nothing but admiration for Eddie Izzard. To run 27 marathons in as many days is an astonishing achievement!🏃

Duckdeamon · 21/03/2016 20:22

It's an immense physical and mental achievement and obviously great contribution for charity, but surely it must entail some big health risks?

Movingonmymind · 21/03/2016 21:08

We are made to run long distances, truly- comes of needing to outrun antelope over many miles.. I think anyone in reasonable health can run a marathon if they're used to regular long distance running and have a good base fitness. Agree, 27 marathons is extraordinary though but unlike when he started, he is now fit and runs a lot so why not? The big issue for me is the impact of road running, much more punishing than the trails and savannahs we are made to run on.

maamalady · 21/03/2016 21:22

Very impressive indeed. I've always been a fan of his :)

eyebrowse · 21/03/2016 21:26

I personally am NOT designed to run long distances but wouldn't mind doing a long walk like Jo Brand did (plus team of olympic coaches and cheering fans along the way ;-) )

jollyjester · 21/03/2016 21:29

I remember his uk ones and there wasn't as much coverage of them either.

I think hes absolutely amazing!

Ive just entered for a 10k and I'm bricking it!

ssd · 21/03/2016 21:30

I can't stand him but thats some achievement

DrWhy · 21/03/2016 21:40

He's absolutely amazing! My dad met him when he stayed in a hotel during his UK marathons that dad was staying at for work. Dad said he was a genuinely nice bloke, very friendly and there was something to do with him providing a bunch of people with ice creams or fish & chips or something!
The amount that he has raised for charity is outstanding and it's done it through a lot of bloody hard effort and no small risk to his own health - very impressive.

dementedma · 21/03/2016 21:43

Huge fan of this intelligent and courageous man. Think he is mega sexy too although he has aged a lot recently.
Was so disappointed when he finished that there were no cheeri g crowds or big celebrations. The picture on social media of him sitting exhausted on the steps with no-one paying the slightest bit of attention is really sad.

thebestfurchinchilla · 21/03/2016 22:22

Amazing in the true sense of this overused word. Hats off to him!

JustADevilWoman · 21/03/2016 22:26

It is an amazing achievement.

however, there is a guy who is just over halfway through doing 401, yes 401, marathons in a row. He has done 203 already! I can't believe how little coverage he is getting:

onedogatoddlerandababy · 21/03/2016 22:32

He is amazing! It's been all over my facebook feed today.
Yep I'm not sure why there's not been more coverage of this either, bit strange really.

I think he's a hero.

Fridayfun · 21/03/2016 22:34

I'm a massive fan of his anyway but this makes me love him even more. So impressive, especially to go back and face it after his previous attempt. His achievements are definitely underreported and underrated. I can't imagine the strenght of mind needed to force your body out each day.

theDudesmummy · 23/03/2016 22:21

Love him! I saw him nude once, in a West End play about Lennie Bruce in the 90s. Have always thought he is mega sexy and even more so now!

FelicityFunknickle · 24/03/2016 19:33

The man is an outrage. Shocking. How dare he?!
Wtf is the point of anyone bothering to do just one piddly marathon now?
Unbelievable.
How the bloody hell did he do it?

FelicityFunknickle · 29/03/2016 09:15

Actually watched this on some sort of catch up last night. It was very moving. I can't imagine being able to summon the physical or mental effort. Well done Eddie.
