here

Who in there right mind would hand over there baby or child to take part in this programme?? A boy goes without food, how on earth is it fair when a young child or baby cannot give their consent?? This really sickens me

Seems very odd!
I would like to see the BBC's version of events as well as the somewhat sensationalist slant that the DM seems to revel in though.

I saw this on the news a few days ago - apparantly all the parents were fully informed of the plans & obviously consented. the children were spervised 24 hours a day via TV links with a fully qualified nanny at hand at all times.
Not sure about the going without food bit - that wasn't discussed on the prog??

Reality TV gone barking/mad/bonkers. I would never ever give my child over to an experiment of this type. Very irresponsible IMO>

I saw the BBCs view on it - many of the parents were healthcare professionals / teachers etc - who understod why the prog was being made & the benefits it may bring to those taking part in it

Re: In one episode a ten-year-old goes without food for a day during what the BBC describes as a 'unique social experiment'.
TBH, my 10 year old has forgotten to eat throughout the day on occasion - especially during the summer holidays when he's been playing with his friends.
I'm sure a 10 year old boy would soon holler if they got overly peckish!
Couldn't see any reference to a baby going without food - that is a completely different matter.

I would like to see the BBC's version of this too.

Afaik (I remember having heard about it before) the children are constantly monitored and taken away if there is a problem.

About the 10yr old not having food for one day - how do you know what the situation is? Maybe he was having problems with food and refused everything he was given? ITs not the same as a baby being denied milk.

No I wouldn't put my child in something like this - but that is my choice.

I also wouldn't base my opinion of something on what I read in the DM

I saw a clip of this programme and it was horrific to watch. One girl took the baby to the shops and the baby was hungry. It was screaming and after a good while she took it to the seated area and tried to feed it - by this time baby was really wound up.
She then sat back and said 'i cant do it'... then because she had so many bags on the push chair the whole thing fell backwards with baby in!! A nanny then had to step in!

If that was my baby i'd be fuming - i couldnt let anyone have my DS for more than a night out or few days away!!
