I thought it was very carefully written.

Elasticwoman · 25/12/2006 20:19

I thought doesn't she look old! And if she's old, what does that say about me? I can remember her only having one chin, and dark hair.

As for the speech, well, she wants to appeal to all sections of society doesn't she? She wants to be the unifying factor.

Did she say anything you particularly disagreed with ff?

JARMgotstuckupthechimney · 25/12/2006 20:19

i dunno - i was asleep!

whatwouldjesusdo · 25/12/2006 23:48

what did the veiled lady on Channel 4 say?

paulaplumpbottom · 27/12/2006 18:15

Agreed I am much more curious about her.

Hallgerda · 28/12/2006 17:55

I listened to the Queen by accident. Her Christmas message was anodyne as ever, but came over as quite heartfelt. It was all about people from different generations working together. The following day on the Today programme God slot (to which I don't normally listen, but it was the Bishop of Southwark and I was curious to hear any elucidation of his much publicised job description ), it was revealed that the Queen had been involved in an art project with local children in Southwark Cathedral, making a nativity scene. The children had not been told in advance who would be working with them (I wonder whether their mums believed them when they came home and talked about their day ) The Queen's contribution was one of the Three Kings' gifts, appropriately. All terribly nice, I thought. And I'm a perfectly sober republican cynic.

Hallgerda · 28/12/2006 17:55

I'm afraid the woman in the veil would have been lost on me - it's not a detail that comes across on radio.

paulaplumpbottom · 28/12/2006 19:14

I can't even find out what she said on the net

southeastastra · 28/12/2006 19:27

didn't she say something about her grandchildren asking is she remembered the stone age. obviously good education wasted on them

motherinfurrierfestivefrock · 28/12/2006 19:28

Who? What? Where? Have I missed something?

strawberrydream · 28/12/2006 19:53

Doesnt her majesty look good for her age? except the teeth (mind you, they are her own)

SueBaroo · 29/12/2006 23:46

The alternative message on Channel 4 turned out to be a fully veiled english muslim convert saying 'Peace on earth to everyone'.

I'm not clever, but it doesn't come across as that alternative to me.
