Where is she? Did anyone see the video of her walking, very strange, poor family it must be awful not knowing.

Her being in pyjamas makes me feel she 'fled', or that she wasn't planning on being around for long

But if she was heading for the coast then I think someone would have seen her, lots of nyd walkers/runners in that area

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 03/01/2016 10:18

Yeah we know all that pipistrella Hmm

gingerboy1912 · 03/01/2016 10:23

Pip yes I'm aware of that, but it would just help people to understand the situation better if they knew some basic facts, they are asking for a lot of public support and have asked people to search around the area,

OP posts:
Pipistrella · 03/01/2016 10:23

Hmm yourself

Do you think you can solve this then?

Pipistrella · 03/01/2016 10:23

x posts

Pipistrella · 03/01/2016 10:24

If the police thought people could help better with this sort of info they would have shared it.

timelytess · 03/01/2016 10:28

Initially watching it and the way she was walking made me wonder whether she had had some sort of brain episode
Interested in this comment because when I had a brain event my mind told me 'Walk or die'. So maybe that's what happened to her.

The FB page is full of people squabbling over what is or is not helpful or posting pictures of candles and supportive messages.

It is a strange business. Family have said no issues at all - health or well-being that they know about, no rows, no indications of upset, perfectly normal, happy Christmas day. Husband saw her heading out of bedroom at 3am- assumed she was going to make a cup of tea get a drink of water- often did so. Thought she must have gone into spare room when he woke next morning and she was not in bed. House in very smart area, she has been described as bubbly, kind, funny, loving, worked as TA in local college for many years, very stable background.

Seen on CCTV walking along riverside from Throckley, Newburn into Quayside. Stopped to speak to a lady early dog walking in Newburn who she startled and lady said she seemed perfectly pleasant and normal, patted dog, chatted etc. Seen on CCTV walking on riverside path behind big Newcastle hotel. Does not appear on any further CCTV.

DH and I walked DS near there yesterday along the river. It is a nice walk in the day. Police boats on river at low tide, police searching buildings, fingerprinting railings at riverside where she was last on CCTV.

Would love a happy ending but seems very unlikely. Why would you do what she did- walk 11 miles in the dark and rain, through a rough area down to the deepest bits of the river, with no money or phone or anything and without telling your DH where you were going?

Something happened to her- she comitted suicide, had an accident, was attacked, became unwell or something. It just does not sound possible for it to turn out well. Very sad.

gingerboy1912 · 03/01/2016 11:45

Lulu thank you that was a good post and I think you are right about the outcome, but I didn't realise she stopped and talked to a lady walking her dog,

MumOnTheRunCatchingUp · 03/01/2016 11:58

I didn't read that she stopped to talk to someone... Only read that here

LuluJakey1 · 03/01/2016 12:03

The lady she chatted to had no idea she had gone missing and nothing had raised concerns about her to her. There have been no other confirmed sightings. The polce are very focussed around the quayside area near the Swing Bridge. Possibly, if they find her, we will never know what happened and why - just the outcome. Very sad.

flippinada · 04/01/2016 15:25

I was down visiting my family in Newcastle at NY and there are pictures of and notices about Ms Allan everywhere.

This is very sad and my heart just goes out to her poor family, not knowing where she is or what's happened must be absolute torture. I really, really hope there's a positive outcome.

PennyHasNoSurname · 04/01/2016 16:20

Local updates are that they have no cctv footage of her passed a point where she walks under a bridge (the footpath runs this way), and now marine officers are searching the water close to that point.

It is not looking as though there will be a positive outcome, but we remain ever hopeful

gingerboy1912 · 04/01/2016 17:00

Updates are pointing towards her having gone into the water sadly.

Very sad. I saw an interview with her husband which I must have missed when it first happened. He said they both got up to go to the loo about 3am and then she went downstairs. He assumed she had made a hot drink and taken it into another room as she often did so as not to disturb him and the next morning he played with their grandson who was staying overnight. Did not realise at first she was not just having a lie in. But the other room had not been slept in and then the police found CCTV of her near Newburn from about 4.30am and then along the riverside to the quayside.
Said they had had a completely normal, happy Christmas. Completely out of character for her to go out walking late at night under any circumstances- not something she has ever done.

Gruntfuttock · 04/01/2016 19:43

I keep thinking about this. Now that it has been said that they have concluded that she went into the Tyne, the torture of not knowing why combined with the unbearable loss of a much-loved wife, mother and grandmother must be a living hell for the family and of course for friends as well. Such a very unusual and tragic thing to have happened.

How awful. I hope she is found soon.

LittleMamaJama · 05/01/2016 14:04

Did she have a history of sleep walking?

ALemonyPea · 05/01/2016 14:12

All this rain mustn't be helping the divers searching the river.

I do hope she is found soon so her family can know where she is.

The family released this statement last night:

This morning, the family visited the Newcastle Quayside area by the Swing Bridge next to the river Tyne. It is the place that Sally was last seen on CCTV and the place where she finished her last walk with Gordon, her husband, before Christmas. We threw roses in the river and shared a tender moment of reflection about what she meant to us. Sally was a loving caring wife and mother who lit up the lives of everyone who knew her and we will always remember her.
Whilst we were on the Quayside we met and spoke with officers from the Police Marine and Diving unit. They outlined the detailed searches they will be doing over the coming days and spoke of their determination to bring our Sally home so we can say a proper goodbye.
This Facebook group was set up to "Search 4 Sally" and it has demonstrated the power of social media to do this, achieving national media coverage. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people freely gave up their Christmas time with friends and family to search for her and for this we will always be eternally grateful. The community spirit shown to us was tremendous. In addition the messages of love and support have touched our hearts and given us the strength to keep going during the most difficult of times.
Given the group was set up to "Search 4 Sally" and given we have now accepted that she has almost certainly gone into the river Tyne we feel the time is now right to close down the posting of new messages to the site. Speculation and criticism of others does not help anyone however well intentioned. Another important factor is that with friends returning to work we do not have the resource to administer the site and we must allow ourselves the time and space to grieve and rebuild our strength. The Group will continue to operate but only as a way for us to keep you updated on any major developments in the "Search 4 Sally".
We would however like to use the exposure "Search 4 Sally" has achieved to raise money to help improve awareness of mental health. We have chosen the national charity MIND; if Sally had accessed services such as these perhaps she would still be with us today. Should you wish to donate then please follow the link below:
www.justgiving.com/Sally-Allan1956
Finally, we hope the most positive outcome to have come from this tragic situation is that you and others have thought more about how to love and care for your own loved ones. In this modern busy world it is only too easy to forget those that matter to us most.

MsMims · 05/01/2016 22:18

So awful. Poor woman and poor family.

Whatsername24 · 05/01/2016 22:43

So sad, I really hoped this would have a happy ending. Those poor people.

gingerboy1912 · 06/01/2016 12:50

The family are asking for donations to Mind. Wondering is she had mental health issues then.

DeoGratias · 07/01/2016 12:39

Unusual because of her age and stage actually. A woman that age - it just doesn't seem typical she would want to harm herself if in fact she did. Let us hope she might still be found alive.
