I read recently that wireless broadband, whichwe have got, is a bit like living near a mobile phone mast. Naturally I am rather worried as we dond't need any more health or behavioural changes here thank you. ANy knowledge or thoughts anyone?

There are lots of alternative health practitioners that will tell you it is dangerous. (and sell you things line Q-link or crystals.
If you search the net you'll find the majority think this is poppycock, and, as with anything on the net, you'll be able to find those who think it is the devil's work. (eg I've read allergy to wi-fi is a recognised condition in Scandinavia.)
In our house we tend to turn it off when it is not needed for a longer periods of time... why? to save electricty .... and a bit of 'just in case'.

Yes of course it is. You never have to get out of bed, you end up getting fat and unfit.

LOL PSH!

Snowydays, do you only get the demon vibes coming through when you are online then? Or do you mean you are turning your box off? I don't really know the ins and outs of the set up. What is it you are turning off?!

omg

our box is in dd's bedroom, it didn't even occur to me that it might be a prob..

Recent research has proved that mobile phones are just fine. Am sure wifi is too. There are worse things in the world if you are wanting something to fret over LOL.

whatwouldjesusdo · 17/12/2006 20:02

themoon, I think the research in qu was looking at holding a phone to your ear. Not sure that base stations have been given 100% all clear. jury still out as far as Im concerned. (I am a mobile phone engineer btw)
I have got wireless bb and keep meaning to look up the transmission power to see how it compares with a phone.

Elf · 19/12/2006 21:06

whatwouldjesusdo, I'd be interested in anything you find out .......

We've had wireless broadband since the summer and I've often thought that maybe the box is sending out killer rays etc.

Totally poo-pooed by dp but I've been meaning to investigate further.

I would be interested in any findings as well.

whatwouldjesusdo · 20/12/2006 12:10

elf, Im shamelessly lazy about this one! Weve never actually had any dilemma about living on top of a UMTS transmitter, so I havent really researched it, or WLAN.
There may be a problem due to QPSK type transmissions at higher powers, ie sudden phase changes, transmitted regularly. Or there may not. I dont think there has been enough research on whether or how this sort of thing affects the human body.

whatwouldjesusdo · 20/12/2006 12:12

when I get my wireless broadband back, I will investigate it, if the killer rays dont get me first lol

Elf · 20/12/2006 20:36

WhatwouldJesusdo, with regard to your first post, all those acronyms went way over my head but I agree not enough research has been done into this subject. As usual, big companies would be terrified by the results I expect.

I'm only p'ed off because it took us ages to get this broadband thing set up and now we're getting our gonads fried.
