already been in tears over this today, so awful, i know of a litle boy that suffered 50% burns in a house fire at the age of 7, he was not expected to pull through, thankfully he did, but 80% burns on such a tiny body..............

PeachyClair · 25/11/2006 18:00

According to local news (can only get HTV we used to watch even now in wales- guess TV didn't want to move???) she ahs a 20% chance of pulling through

She lives quite near where I grew up / all my family and friends live

Sending huge positive vibes to the family

Twinkie1 · 25/11/2006 18:18

This happened to a couple in bed last year - terrifying to be lying there and then burnt!!!

Made DP check where our tank was!!!

Lets say a prayer for the poor little mite!!

PinkTinsel · 25/11/2006 18:40

i read that with my baby on my lap and i'm sobbing into his head as i type.

poor little angel, my thoughts will be with her. i hope she recovers

moondog · 25/11/2006 18:57

It's dreaful isn't it?
My sister was burnt very badly (and cut to shreds by exploding crockery) when a faulty immersion heater blew up in our house.

I will never forget the huge bang, the blackness and then the dreadful screaming.

Luckily she is ok apart from a badly scarred back and legs.

TwoIfBySea · 25/11/2006 20:13

God help her poor parents, they would have been so excited moving into their new home and for this to then happen.

What would you do? If you walked in and saw that, I know what to do in the case of fire but jc this is beyond nightmare.

I can't read the article, but I get the gist from the posts.

My DH suffered 38% 3rd degree burns. He was very lucky to pull through and the after effects of his accident still trouble him 13 years on.

Poor, poor little girl

expatinscotland · 25/11/2006 21:28

How would one find out where the hot water pipes are in their home?

ellesbells · 25/11/2006 22:31

my god ive been at work crying all day. (my dd about the same age) came home, woke her up and gave massive cuddles! it puts life into perspective doesn't it? hope she pulls through. expat i think your hot water tank has to be in the loft?? most hot water tanks are at ground level thank goodness. i am going to check tho to see if any pipes are in my loft!

JanH · 25/11/2006 22:35

Most houses don't have hot water pipes in the roof, expat - usually the hot tank and all the pipes leading from it are in the house.

This really is a freak accident - poor little girl, and poor family

ernest · 26/11/2006 14:16

my ds had 2% burns on his arm. And the pain and trauma was truly horrific and heartbreaking. So 80% or more is absoutely unthinkable. If she does survive, the physical and mental pain and scarring will be terrible. What a truly sad and terrible thing to happen. That poor family & that poor child.

dublindee · 26/11/2006 14:57

any more news on poor Rhianna today? Sat up to watch news last night but no further developments then....

donnie · 26/11/2006 16:16

this is just awful. Poor little child.

buktus · 26/11/2006 18:04

there hasnt been anything on the local news about her either, but frenchay is the best burns unit in the country she is in the best place possible

OP posts:
buktus · 26/11/2006 18:25

handlemecarefully · 26/11/2006 18:45

In a way I hope she doesn't pull through - life horrifically scarred is extraordinarily difficult.

My second cousin was burnt badly in a house fire when he was 2 years old. He committed suicide at age 17 because he couldn't stand the looks, stares and venomous remarks from the great British public

cyrilsquirrel · 26/11/2006 18:53

I agree, hmc, although wasn't brave enough to say it!!

ellesbells · 26/11/2006 20:23

agree totally...it wont just be about the looks...they said her organs have been badly affected....all those long term problems with her lungs and heart ect so painful. just hope the parents dont have to make that difficult choice later on!

dublindee · 26/11/2006 21:49

It's heart breaking.
Can't imagine how they are coping.

curlysmum · 27/11/2006 11:41

I was thinking about this last night before I went to sleep how the poor parents can be feeling I think if my dd was to suffer such a horrific thing I would just want her to be released from this pain, I said a few prayers for her too, its just too awful to even imagine, how cruel life is

helenhismadwife · 27/11/2006 14:29

I have just seen the local htv west news she is still in a critical condition

rest in peace poor child. At least she is out of pain now.

tortoiseBells · 13/12/2006 13:51

So sad - the parents were on the local news this week saying she had amazed doctors with her progress. Poor little mite. At least she is out of pain now. Lots of love to the parents at this time and in the future.
